'Legitimate' could mean anything & if it's something horrendous they have my sympathies, but surely if he/she has fallen on hard times they wouldn't be asking for a £300k mark-up, they would be pricing it nearer the purchase price?
If you have fallen on hard times surely you would do the exact opposite of that and try to get as much money as possible or the car .
After all I can't see the owner being literally starving
I suppose it depends on how desperate they are? Agree, they hardly need to sell the Big Issue if they can afford to buy a Zag! In any case it's a beautiful car & it deserves a good home.

Maybe they just couldn’t cope with the fogged up headlights?

Are people really prepared to pay £800K for a Volante in a body kit? Does not look an £800K car to me.

This is strange, because I loved the red car in the original publicity photos.
Now in another colour, placed in front of a boring brick wall, it somehow does not look very appealing to me.

Doesn't look at all special for that kind of money. Think my old Vantage looks just as good, and I get to keep about £840,000 in change.

Although I seem to have mislaid that at the moment
I was thinking the same. A tarted up vanquish and not even in good taste (says me lol).

I have to say I don't feel nearly as strongly as most people on here about the seller

He doesn't owe anyone else anything, he too advantage of the opportunity to buy the car, he took the financial risk and he's selling for a profit. So regardless of whether the suggestions that it was unintentional when first purchased are correct, I just don't think he (or she) did anything that wrong. The vetting system may be worthy of criticism, but even then, no vetting system can be foolproof and that's before you factor in the possibility of changing financial circumstances.

They will be barred from buying limited eds again and they either knew that would happen and don't mind, or didn't know and rightfully deserve the ban they will probably get

Sorry, it wasn’t my intention to begin a thread on the morals of the seller or otherwise (albeit it has diverted a bit on to that).

I thought forumites would be more interested in the car, the price (yikes) and how quickly it had been flipped on to the market

Back on topic, personally I’m not sure the Volante version of the Zagato works as well as the Coupe - losing the double bubble roof removes some of that essential Zag character. And then add in a fairly “standard” colour like silver and it really doesn’t do it for me. Will be very interesting to see how long it takes to sell

I get that other people feel differently - it's not a black & white issue for sure. I certainly get why it will be annoying to see from the viewpoint of someone buying.trying to buy a zagato !

volant looks great but agree the coupe & the SB look better in my subjective opinion

db11 volante however is a different matter - I think it look better than the coupe, roof up or down - they've done a truly stupendous job with that car

+1 I was at the factory last year and saw more than 10 come off the production line. I wasn’t a fan, and that was before I found out the price premium. I guess like most things beauty is in the eye of the beholder etc etc

I think Nick’s “legitimate reason“ comment was sarcasm, guys.

I’ve got a different point of view on the production of such cars in limited numbers , maybe if AM came out and said they would build every Zagato that they had an order for rather than announcing a limited run of say 100 models.

Supply would match demand , it would stop the speculators gambling on the increase in value , the manufacturer wins , the dealers win and the customers are happy.

While manufacturers continue down the limited run route this reselling at a profit will only continue.

This discussion wouldn’t be taking place if the car was being sold at a massive loss would it ?

AM should bump the price up further if they insist on manufacturing these limited edition runs and keep the profit in house .

As for the looks , Zagato Vanatge is far better imho.

I like the idea, but don't see it working in practice - the only reason they get people prepared to pay over £500k for a £200k car in a very beautiful bespoke suit is the limited production and unlike say a Porsche with their GT cars, you can hardly accuse Aston of pricing the car too cheaply ! It's mainly just symptomatic of the market right now - remember how they struggled to sell ONE 77 or V12V Zag just a few years ago when times were different. It's a delicate balancing act between price/production numbers. We can't have it both ways - now Aston are slowly starting to get the same wider interest of some other marques, it will only get worse. Or better. Depending on your viewpoint.

One small point - no profit has been made - yet...

Asking price versus actual sale price and all that.

Have to admit - I do prefer the Coupe, speedster and shooting brake to the Volante.

The Volante just doesn't look special enough

Not far from me, might go have a nosey if it is there next week and get a test drive lol.

I am always surprised at the values and volumes of cars that go through these types of indy dealers.

It looks a bit better I think in that black. But the hard top versions are still far more differentiated

Really does P**S me off.... although I suspose one might argue that if 2 are for sale it is only 2% of them, but I would have had one if any were available at launch but no way would I pay that premium.
