Anyone bought these disks from either Autodoc or one of the other suppliers?

The images appear to show the hub part is painted Black, the details say Surface: coated, although I don't know if it's referring to the hub finish.

My Vantage disk hubs are looking very unsightly and don't particularly want to paint them, for the prices quoted here I'd rather replace them with some spangly new ones, and would prefer the hub finished Black.

I have been using Porterfield R4S pads that I bought from Rich at Redpants. I have had them on two different V8Vantages. They make hardly any brake dust and don’t squeal and stop just like oem pads. They are also less $$$ that oem pads.

I have just ordered a pair of front discs from Motor-Doctor £148.16 the pair including VAT & delivery.

Also ordered front & rear pads (R4S) directly from Porterfield Brakes UK at £363.47 the lot inc VAT & delivery.

Happy with that at a shade over £500 for the lot delivered to my door.

Triple5 - I ordered rear discs from Autodoc. The hubs are painted a graphite colour and seem to have been lacquered. This is the best pic I could find online.....

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Brembo-09-8780-21-Brake-D...

Hope that helps.

Excellent, yes that's the pic I'd seen, thanks for confirming.

Guys: I ordered V8 Vantage front discs through Amazon.uk after having no luck getting autodoc or mister.auto to work (html site and nothing really worked right). Order went through and today last evening, but today I got a notice back that they couldn't ship to my address in South Carolina and had canceled my order.

Is there a rule I don't know about?

Any advice would be appreciated, I definitely need new discs. Ordered new RS-4 pads from Repants (no problem there, of course)...

Thanks!

It might be shipping costs which are proving to be the problem, did you try motor-doctor? mine arrived within about 7 days (Germany to Isle of Man), the weight was a surprise though!, I could hardly carry the box, so I was amazed at the 'all in' cost including postage for such a heavy item.

Likely prohibitive shipping costs due to weight, may cost more than the products themselves. Looks like they only ship within Europe

Glad to hear that the information is proving useful to people

I have recently ordered a full set of discs and pads, and I may have found a very inexpensive replacement for the front pads. I will report back when they are successfully fitted and I've had a chance to do some stopping.

rancid
As promised, I've now had the wonderful team up at Beamish fit my discs pads etc.

These are the pads I went for, for the front discs...

So far they are an absolute delight. I can't comment on them at the limit, as I have no talent and therefore never approach it. However, they stop the car extremely well and seem to be low dust

Rancid,

Thanks for posting. An update on longevity would be good, do they take the wear sensors?

They do indeed come with new wear sensors, the chaps up at Beamish mentioned they were fractionally different from the official Aston ones either in terms of placement or sensor itself, but obviously nothing that stopped them fitting them correctly.

Yes, I'll let you know how I get on with them in this thread. I can't imagine they will be any different to either textar, brembo pagid etc. The front pads for a lot of Astons are compatible with pads from VW Tourag, Seat Leon Cupra and Audi TT RS.

Unfortunately the rear pads don't seem to be shared with anything and so it seems virtualy impossible to get alternatives to those, although I am still trying a few avenues.

Wow that is a good price including wear sensors ...dealers charge £25 per sensor for those alone . Certainly brings down the per axle cost on new discs n pads greatly. I changed my own last time for about 60% of dealer quote. Using these parts would be more like 30% of main dealer price.

Got round to ordering disks and pads from Autodoc, just need to find the time to fit them now. The hub and edges are painted in a Graphite colour which should match the wheels nicely. Hopefully they will stay rust free a little longer, can’t believe how heavy they are though.

They are incredibly heavy!! when mine arrived I went to pick both boxes up together from where the delivery guy had left them........and got a bloody shock, I then pulled them out of the boxes to check them as I was convinced they'd sent a pair for a DAF truck by mistake!!

These sound like a very competitive company and I'm reassured by the comments in this thread.
Not sure if it's just me but I tried to price some discs and pads for my Mercedes this morning
and I get an "Error" message from the Mister-doc website.

Do you mean Motor-Doctor? I just went on there no problem.

Yes, sorry. Spelling mistake on my part.
I did mean Motor-Doctor as you say.
Just tried again and all is well. Thanks.

Pretty sure Motor Doctor, and a few other sites are still Autodoc behind the scenes.

Re: weight of the discs, I was equally surprised at how heavy they are. Especially as the courier who delivered them was an absolute man-mountain. When he effortlessly handed both pairs + pads to me, I got quite the shock, as did my legs, knees and back.

As an update, the front pads I bought (Stark) are still excellent, so well worth the savings from my point of view.
