DBX Media Launch and First Deliveries

I was mostly joking with the one-77 but not letting every reviewer and youtuber out there get DBX press access given how important the model is does make you wonder if they are questioning just how positive the reviews might or might now be. Hence they want to fill up order books before the reviews hit.
AML already have orders for many months production of the DBX. A handful of journalists have driven prototype versions, but with strong initial orders, there is no rush to have early reviews. Instead of letting journalists review pre-production versions, much better to wait until fully developed production DBXs are available. It would then be timely to have a boost of publicity.
What do you think of the powered anti-roll bars, which can control body roll theoretically to zero degrees?

And ya... i think with one-77 they knew the reviews might be questioning the value and transmission etc. Only a few reviews of the one -77 still!
Given how the prototype driving impressions went, I suspect the only folks concerned about the production car reviews, will be those who work at Bentley or Lamborghini. Aston Martin has nothing to be afraid of, the DBX is a great product in the segment they're targeting. And ya... i think with one-77 they knew the reviews might be questioning the value and transmission etc. Only a few reviews of the one -77 still!
Given the time frame and COVID delaying the initial production commencement, it's likely that the planned press drives were bumped back in favour of getting cars out to customers who had put down money last November (as noted in the editorial - 80% of cars are heading overseas initially).

Is the Valkyrie on a trailer as the gearbox still doesn't work?Top Gear have got their hands on the DBX. Pulling a Valkyrie!

It always worked, but takes some calibrating to make it work in harmony with the engine. Relatively few 1160bhp N/A V12 hybrids with automated manual gearbox combinations existed already to have a fully fledged setup from the outset. It's been something of a journey for all involved, including Ricardo.Much of it is about managing expectations; it's not designed to tootle around the centre of London for Instagram photos - Aston's expecting owners to use the car as nature intended. As such, it's not going to perform like a ZF8 auto or DCT - automated manual / semi-auto boxes by their nature are not refined, but are ideal for more extreme, high performance applications (Valkyrie hopefully qualifies).

Car is / was being designed for the road, I thought that was one of the big points about it.

I've seen videos of Valkyrie on track, so it must have some ability to move!

I’m intrigued to know why they place an embargo on reviews/media content?
So none of the media are at an advantage, even when different countries’ media are involved; if you embargo the content then you can get lots of coverage at the same time and nobody is rushing to be in the first group to drive the cars rather than everyone reading the first review and nobody else wanting to bother!JohnG1 said:
Does not work in the sense of the seven speed manual in 4.0 Vantage is torque limited and so the engine is throttled to preserve the gearbox? Or does not work as in it's out-of-box failure?

Every one I've heard they are short shifting I've seen videos of Valkyrie on track, so it must have some ability to move!

Ahhh okay, that makes sense I guess.Do we have a date as to when the embargo is lifted?

I actually saw one on the road the other week, but it was about 8 miles from Gaydon.....
Saw one in the Cotswolds on the weekend. Smaller than I expected and a bit to much Ford Kuga. Ford really did Aston a disservice in replicating the AM grill on their cars whilst the company was part of PAG. GingerMunky said:
