As arranged, off to Newcastle I went yesterday full of expectation.....and delighted to say that my expectation was spot on
As I pulled into the dealers I passed the car parked on its own outside. Customer parking was bang opposite the main entrance door and there was little old me parking up in my Smart car of all things. Walked back to look at the car and it was immaculate, it managed to look so elegant yet so menacing at the same time.
To cut a long story short I got most of my questions answered to the positive, went for a test drive and got blown away by it, went back in and upped my deposit to te reqd 10% then set off home a very happy boy.
What a day it was.

Can't believe quite how fast things are moving here.
Buyer has an appt to sign the contract next Wed, my contract has arrived this morning so will be back with my solicitor by Mon morning. Spoke to the solicitor and he said it could all be done and dusted by next Fri or if not by then it'll be by the following week.
Excited doesn't even get close to covering it!
The V12 growl is getting closer

Unfortunately they've managed to misplace the V5 and have applied to the DVLA for a new one, apparently they only need a unique reference number to be able to tax the car so, if all goes to plan I'll collect on Tuesday.

Yeah you don't actually need the paper V5, so no need to apply for a new one. As long as you have a copy of the reference number and it is entered into the system to generate a transfer of owner, it will automatically send you, the new owner a new V5. Surprised a dealer doesn't know this to be honest.

I can only go by what I'm told but will mention this to them Monday morning.moktabe said:

Let's just say very much unimpressed here.
Paid for the car last week....best part of £90k.
Insured the car last week and forwarded the insurance certificate.
Then got informed about the log book!
Called today and there is no-one in today who can help. Had, which was obviously a huge mistake, the impression that the further a customer went up the car chain the better the dealers would be.
So far it's turning into a bit of a stshow.

Not good - but if they do manage to tax it tomorrow , you will save a month's road tax - half a tank of fuel . Paid for the car last week....best part of £90k.

Ah, this is the first hard lesson you learn.Been burned first with my Maserati, when servicing it in Paris was no different than a FIAT for them.

Politely informed them this morning that if I haven't been able to collect the car by 2 weeks today I'll reject it and get a refund. I swear blind I heard the guy fall off his seat.
Not the best introduction to Aston ownership.
This time last week I was getting steamed up and pacing round in circles because there was a chance I might not be able to take my Aston to a car show (it being away being fixed). Not the best introduction to Aston ownership.
Then the phrase 'first world problems' kicked in and I thought 'Well actually if that is my only problem, life is not too bad!'
