OK lets accept the general concensus, the guy is destroying his car, everyone is entitled to there opinions.
And no there will be not a DBS badge going on the car.....not by me anyway even I have my limits!
Had a customer a long time back I did an XK 2005 conversion on his 98 XKR, wanted me to fit the 4.2S badge.....refused outright.....fine making your car look different......I've even done an MR2 conversion into a 355 but dont bullst a bullster.
And yes I am an engineer and a damn good one.....
I did this to my track car
I made the front and sidesill covers to this car and gave a full respray
I am good at what I do and I will do a good job on this DB
OK thats enough trumpet blowing

I've been putting a lot of thought into this...I think it needs one of these next to the DB9 badge:

honestly as a DBS owner i would like to see the result - i think it looks better than the usual *DB9 modified with DBS wheels, front grill and and clear lenses* - i saw one here at my local dealer and that looked really ugly IMHO
So please keep me (us) updated on the progress we are not all AM nerds - i for myself got banned from the AMOC forum

Well I'm always one for mucking about with things (apart from my 355, thats staying standard).
I can see exactly why the guy might want to do it, whilst the DB9 is beautiful, the DBS imho is stunning. I totally agree it shouldnt be badged as one though. Badge it DBX or something.
I like the job you did on that XK..
I have mucked about with my old 911 3.2SSE a little bit, tail chop, a few minor styling bits, I quite fancied having some carbon fibre and a diffuser at the back made, your sort of thing XK Racer?

Happy you liked the XK ............And yeah I can do diffusers.......Everything I do is done by me I buy very little in.....it's all my own products or designs.I have mucked about with my old 911 3.2SSE a little bit, tail chop, a few minor styling bits, I quite fancied having some carbon fibre and a diffuser at the back made, your sort of thing XK Racer?
Not very big on bling (as he looks over his shoulder at that XK engine) But I try to do cars as they should of looked or as the manufacturer might of intended......OK I went totally over board on my XJS but that wasn't one of my kits and I did it 12years ago but I still have it.
Did put an XKR engine in that with a dodge viper 6 speed box, must of been crazy or on drugs.......
Took it all out and have the manual box in my XK!
I will post some pics up of the DB out of curiosity for people
.

[quote=cardigankid] Well, it's his car, and I admit I would like to see the pictures when you are finished.
But if I had the money to buy either a DBS or a DB9 I'm not sure which I would go for, because the DB9 is such a dazzlingly beautiful elegant thing. All the stuff on the DBS just detracts from the appearance imho, though the power of the James Bond aesthetic should never be underestimated. Though noone would admit it, why else do people spend £200k plus on a DB5? And of course it has to be Silver Birch. I don't decry it - I liked the films too.
If I drove the DBS and it was just streets ahead of the 9, that would probably settle it, but if not, I would have a nice 9 in Slate Blue, manual with the Sport Pack.
In your man's position, I'm not sure I wouldn't rather buy the £50k DB9 and put a facelift grille and Sport Pack on it including the 5 spoke wheels. If you get one in a nice grey - like Ferrari Grigio Titanio for example - that's as close to being James Bond as most kids and continentals are likely to be able to tell, or as any reasonable man needs to be.
This is a load of tosh.
I am a massive Aston Martin fan but would never drive one to pretend or even think about being anything like James Bond. Infact, I think that the Aston Martin being Bonds car ruins the image and credibility of the brand. I would hate to think people would look at me in an Aston thinking " He thinks he's James Bond ".
If that was the unfortnate case, I would be knocking on Maserati's door!
Back on topic.
I think transforming your DB9 into a DBS is one of the most disturbing thing since Josef Fritzl. It is like walking into the Ritz or Dorchestor hotel completely naked. You just don't do it.
Just my opinion...
