Anyone know a good solicitor?
Discussion
michael - no they haven't, last thursday was the date, no-one showed and no phone call to say why. The person dealing with it wasn't in until today. I managed to speak to him today and he doesn't know why it didn't turn up! I'm always calling them, very rarely do i ever get a call-back. These are the things that are winding me up more than anything. When you spend a reasonable amount of money with a company you expect some sort of service back. I wasn't expecting a perfect car, i just want a car that works and for the dealer to uphold their side of the bargain. I don't think that's much to ask for but having trawled the internet and come across a fair amount of negative feedback along with speaking to one or two people in the business i'm beginning to suspect it maybe. Yes, i should've checked beforehand and normally I do but I had a very limited timeframe when originally purchasing and this has partly been my undoing.
There is little to no point in you creating a website regarding the dealer. They are very well known for their poor quality vehicle at high prices. Nearly all 4x4 forums poke fun at their pricing and customer service regularly. Bearing this in mind, take the car straight to a proper dealer for them to fix, and suck up the costs as a lesson learnt.

HML - that's a fair point and I suspect will be what I end up doing. I'm not expecting any recompense frankly but if it saves others from receiving such lousy service then it will achieve something.
I dont agree with the HML comment as you could be looking at a 5 to 10k problem......suggest you continue down the road you have taken giving them reasonable opertunity to fix the problem......personally I would have paid a little money to the local AM dealer to get an opnion as to what is wrong with the car and then returned it to the supplying dealer.......anyway keep us informed as we can all learn from it and good luckThe 4x4 dealer would more than likely perform a bodge fix, yes they will "fix" it, but I would question the standard of the "fix". A 10k job at a dealer/Indi may seem like a huge amount compared to the used price, but this a 100k+ car and deserves to be treated as such.
If it was any other dealer he had bought the car from I would have said "make them fix it", but where this dealer is concerned I would do it properly.
PS I would love a Vanquish, it has the most muscular aesthetically pleasing lines of an car produced. A truly special vehicle.

I have done some warranty work for this company on a few Aston Martins, my experience was very professional I was not asked to cut corners etc, what I reported to them with the costs was agreed without any issues, and paid for upon completion, and the new owners were completely satisfied, if they are willing to look at and repair it correctly to every ones satisfaction I would give them a chance, If concerned get an independent inspection before the vehicle is returned to yourself,

thanks for the feed back folks, it's much appreciated.
After some thought, deliberation and chatting to a few solicitors i've decided on the following course of action.
1) to give the dealer sufficient chance to remedy the issue/s with the car. To this end a transporter was due to pick the car up and return it to the dealer last Thursday. The transporter didn't turn up and not even a phone call to explain. Not exactly a good start but let's see what this week brings.
2) Assuming the transporter does at some point turn up and the car gets back to the dealer, once they've rectified the issues the car will go 5 minutes up the road to the nearby Aston Martin franchise to be fully checked over.
3) Assuming all's well then fine, no problem ;-)
4) If all's not well, then this is where things may get interesting. At the moment a friend of mine is setting up a simple website with merely a homepage, updates and possibly a forum section. It's live but hidden at the moment. He's pretty good at this and knows exactly whats needed for the website to show up in all searches for the dealer in question.
I'll leave it to the imagination on what the content is likely to be.
Why chase them, when they can chase me.

AHH looks like the sun is shining for you. Rick and his very well respected team has a working relationship with the sales company this is a very reassuring piece of news ,I understand your frustration from abroad but Chill a little, get in touch with the co,e mail is cool as things get put in writing. Recovering cars from abroad isn`t always a easy job,
If you look in the hand book it might be worth seeing if thers an aston dealer abroad near you and getting an hrs asesment from them incase it s just oil change or ajustment.
There are lots of over exaggerated gear box stories out there Joe public often tells me about,
I don't have any issues with mine whatsoever (although think I have the upgraded sensor)
Some dealers like to get the dosh for a car then fork out for repairs from the profit.or let the warranty co fork out a while later.
I'm sure you will have many miles enjoying the Vanquish experience (as many of us do) especially if it has been well sorted by Rick and the gang.
In the mean time lets have some pictures of the beast.
icepop - next time you spend £44k at a dealer, get f'all service and two cr@p cars from them in the process, tell me just what type of solicitor you'd be asking for? Or is it only on an Aston site where someone might think this is unreasonable?
no answer from the dealer on why the transporter didn't arrive and no call back in over a week.
