Getting there. Having to do lots of bits again.
Is that the bit where you open up a box of Mr Kiplings almond slices and get crumbs all over your shirt ? Or maybe when you are bending over and your trouser splits up your bum cos you're a fatty ?

Missed you by a day.... Did you see the nice Racing Green Zagato in there?
Yes I did, not sure about that particular shade of green but love the car, very nice. BR workshop crammed with cars as per. Impressive new car sales facade/facilities close to completion, good to see a business expanding. RichB said:
Well the floor's aluminium Ken so I hope not! That's just the wreckage after the gearbox was taken out - the tunnel comes off and it comes up through the cabin. That said there was some rot in the chassis which has been replaced so it's been fully scraped back and painted underneath. Engine being rebuilt now with new pistions, liners etc. And all because it's smoking habit was getting worse - 20 a day! .
I'm no expert so I'm just supposing that the smoking was a combination of rings and bore wear? Will you have the head overhauled now too?RichB said:
Exactly, as I always do I took it to Davron with a list of "little" jobs to do after another pleasant year's motoring and remarked that it was misfiring on a few cylinders for the first 5 or 10 mins and it had started smoking but only from one exhaust pipe. So, compression test indicated No3 was well down, head off, sump off, pistons out and a couple of broken rings. So that meant new pistons (almost as cheap as just buying rings matched to the old ones. Decided to replace the cylinder liners too and "while it's apart" polish the crank and fit all new bearings. Unfortunately the cylinder head was cracked too (yes, I've see it) so it's getting an new aluminium Alperform head. I've almost forgotten what was on the little list of jobs I wanted them to do now! But I'm sure it will go rather well when it comes back I'm hoping for significantly more bhps - not that I drive it for the power! Now then, perhaps I'll go for a triple SU conversion while it's being done! That'll give me another 10 bhp!
For me, that post alone Rich, justifies this thread,,,great stuff, thank you for sharing. PS: Will the original cracked head be repaired?

Popped to BR. Met a few people en-route who were so friendly and just loved the car 'most beautiful car I've ever ever seen mate'! Must not take her so for granted!
First proper drive in the sunny dry since October 2015. OMG I forgot how good she is. Watched something with a 5" tailpipe and a huge spoiler bounce all over the shop in front of us - Rapide was calm, poised, tenacious, ohh so safe and just sublime
Unavoidably killed a young pheasant mind - I rather callously aimed for it with my wheel once I knew an impact was unavoidable and so saved the grille. Poor thing. Bit chewy mind
Other than that - great sneaky day off
Reading your post reinforces the belief I held when first posting the thread topic, that it would produce some classic real life Aston devotee experiences for us all to share,,,,I was right,,,Ken, thank you.
