I think people must be nose blind if they think the mazda and the AM look even similar, the AM just oozes quality where the mazda looks exactly what it is, a cheap everyday car

all those two pics highlight is one stunning design and one flawed design. I still maintain the new TVR has a lot of similarities at the front with the Mazda, but I don't remotely see the connection to Vantage

Took my girlfriend to the Vantage launch. Her first comment was ‘oh it’s like my MX5’. She meant that as a compliment by the way.
She’s not a car person and I cannot personally see any similarity but there must be something in it

I scanned through some of the written reviews and Marek Reichman. is very defensive of his teensy headlights. Design was sacrificed for the sake on engineering and serviceability. Luckily he does have large hands.

Just seen the PH video. With the headlights on it looks much better, and love it in that grey.

The car just needs to be seen moving to bring the shape alive

I had a real surprise when I called into Aston Martin Sydney this morning

New Vantage sitting there, mercury silver, Matt black wheels red calipers, gloss black spoilers, red and black sports seats

It isn't as pretty as my 07 V8V, but I'm hooked

I'll own one at some point, they are really impressive looking cars and if the reviews are correct - just awesome on the road

And that exhaust sound is special

The motoring journalist Andrew English, who owns and races an Aston Martin DB5, has written a comprehensive and detailed review of the new Vantage.

You might have to register (no charge) to read it.

Don't look at the reader comments though.

Went on a Supercar Driver outing to Mclaren Manchester this morning, then on to Aston Martin to look at the new Vantage. I think it's stunning, it looks so much better in the flesh, mean, squatting, curved, I love it! Also on the interior, a lot of people on the press launch came away saying the centre console was cluttered, but honestly I don't see it, everything felt purposeful and I could imagine with regular driving you'd be able to control all the functions without looking away from the road.

They had a nicely spec'd Vanquish S too, and a DB11 Volante, which looks a lovely tourer though the rear seats are very straight up, I think they'd be less comfortable for the kiddos, to me the rear seats seem inches from much more usability.

Thanks for the high quality pictures, Pantsfire.

Is there any trick or software needed here to upload pictures of such high resolution? I remember uploading pictures of my car and the "Upload an image (beta)" option would not allow my 20MegaPixel shots but only inferior VGA-quality. And also I was unable to place all the pics in the post directly. I wonder what I did wrong.

Hmmm.....not great reading. Initially I liked the Vantage when I first saw it at Gaydon to the extend that I wanted one. Now 4 months later I can’t get my eyes away from that gaping front grille and those tiny exhaust pipes.

The grille is big, but once you see it in person it works, but I completely agree on the exhaust, the single pipes are too small for the space surrounding them, but the optional sport exhaust has twin pipe that work better, and then of course you could get an aftermarket exhaust to fix the issue. It does baffle me that Aston thought those single pipes would be okay.

We now have an explanation from Aston Martin, about why the new Vantage does not have their famous historic grille.

Mark Reichmann has been reported to have said, “Why put 15 or 20 kilos of weight on the nose of a car, in the worst possible spot” for handling balance?

I thought that comment pertained to the small headlamps?
