Slightly off-topic.

Many years ago I dated an ex-model. Not sure how to describe her. If you've ever heard of Laetitia Casta, well, my girl was like her better looking younger sister.

Anyway, once we were in a bar. I went to the loo. Some guy hits on her, she's cool, happens all the time. I walk back, she squeezes my hand. Matey boy leans over to me and says 'sorry fella, did not realise she was with you, should have known she'd not be alone, have a good evening, no offence'.

Another time, different bar, different situation. Ends up with matey boy being somewhat rude and then carried out by the security staff.

Some people covet, others seek to destroy what they cannot have.

You get to drive the V8 and the fool who did this will never have that pleasure. Fix the car up as good as new, maybe invest in a gate. But remember that you're simply better than this fool. Not because you can afford the car (money is irrelevant) but because you're not a destroyer.
Chin up!

Sorry to hear about this mate, i hope you (not the police) catch the guy that didnt this and he has a little accident....

In some cases headlights can be sanded and polished to remove defects, but if you can just get it sorted on the insurancem then that would be the best option.

OP I feel you pain.

Gutted for you mate. I've had four cars badly keyed up in a similar way to yours. One was done about 5 times.

Having said that it was partly due to my job at the time hence the reason I was targeted. So it was personal in all cases.

However lately my wife had her own car keyed whilst parked in a secure carpark of all places. A random attack and it really upset her so much.

I hope your car comes back totally sorted.

No words can describe how this makes me feel. But, as others have noted, in a few weeks you'll be enjoying your pristine Aston Martin, while the %$#@ who did this will be in the same miserable situation (deservedly) their lives as they were before -- and they always will be.

I wouldnt say that was off topic at all... Excellent comparrison...

Its funny when you think about how some peoples minds work..
Stupid thing is I have had in the past a couple of youngsters knock on the door and ask if its ok to look at the car?? a bit odd at 1st I thought but hey ho.. I probably would have seen them out the window and taken one look at them in theyre hoodies and assumed the worst and steamed out side. But as they knocked and were nice polite lads they both got a turn in the passanger seat round the block....

The cars off today to a friends unit, who has kindly offered to keep the car there and then drop it off to the guys at the body shop when they call for it. So out of sight out of mind, im going to forget this happend and just wait for the finished product to be dropped back.

Tragedy, i really feel for you. I agree with those who have expressed statements about British society having an element of people being envious of success.

PersonalIy i would not be surprised if we don't see more of this type of thing in the current climate, especially if we slip into recession again and the press focus on the haves and have nots. It doesn't matter to them the fact we have worked hard for our cars and sometimes given up other things to buy and run them - the mere fact we have them is sufficient to make us targets.

Re your thoughts on prevention, I will email you later with some suggestions if I may.

Great mentallity. I would find it very challanging to get mentally on with things, but glad that you seem to be able to put things into perspective. Are you going to cover it / keep it somewhere else? (nearby garage) to reduce the chances of this re-occuring?

Gutted for you, they are just scum furious

Back in 2007 I bought a brand new Golf GTi and while walking back from shopping I reached my car and there was a HUGE scratch all the way down the side.

Sat on a wall next to the car were several hooded youths.....smirking

I looked at the car, looked at them then looked back at the car and one of the youths got off the wall and said "What? What's your problem??" he got quite confrontational and I had not said at word.

It was obvious they did it as they could not see the scratch from where they were sat and they way they were acting was if they knew someone would be upset....I just got in the car and drove off.

Nowadays, it's not worth saying anything or getting confrontational as it may escalate into physical violence.

Not exactly the realms of AM (and this will please Mr Gould!!) but I've just acquired a Volvo V50 T5. Now, not the most exciting motor in the world but I still felt the need to take the T5 badge off the back (nothing else gives away the fact it's *relatively* high performance). Much like people keying your pride and joy, far too many people out there who would prefer to steal what others have worked for and it's sad you have to do everything you can to minimise the risk.

I feel your pain.

Happened to my DB9 when I'd had it about a month. The fker keyed it right down into the metal. It was as good as new within two weeks though.

Please, what ever you do DON'T take it to the Aston Approved Bodyshop in Berkshire. No naming and shaming but its in the town famous for "The Office"

Had the misfortune of having mine sent their to repair bonnet damage. Took way too long to fix, lied about time scales, and I had to send it back 3 times due to shocking 'orange peel' effect.

What is their plan of action? Full respray or some specialist service as above that can be done for a few hundred quid?

No I think this is going to be a full respray!! The scratches are so deep, like they used a knife or something...
