If it was a flat in London, to work in London, then I'm not sure I'd bother taking the Aston. Surely 6mpg in London isn't achieved by 'having fun' but rather quite the opposite sitting in traffic?
I used to drive to work at 6am. So not much traffic. You can generally drive in bus lanes before 7am.Lots of stop and start and pulling away from the lights, so lots of first and second gear action. Great fun but you have to be so aware of your surroundings....

You can make pedestrians jump in that tunnel.

Being a lawyer, I don't leave for work anywhere near that early, so I see the kids in the morning, not the evening.
You can make pedestrians jump in that tunnel.
Oh yes!You can make pedestrians jump in that tunnel.
The great thing about that tunnel and owning an Aston Martin can be encapsulated in this...
A few months back in one week I went through that tunnel in my car, a 911 997.2 turbo convertible and an SL63 AMG convertible. In all cases holding in a low gear and red lining. The Merc got eyebrows raised, the Porsche got coffee-beans handshake. The Aston Martin gets a smile...

The purpose of the thread was not to determine whether I could afford the petrol.
It was genuine curiosity about what was achievable in real world driving situations...
Thanks again..
Richard.
As said elsewhere. Petrol is not a cost to consider with pretty much any Aston, depreciation, service, tyres, tax, insurance etc are bigger costs. It was genuine curiosity about what was achievable in real world driving situations...
Thanks again..
Richard.
For the record my computer frequently tells me that I'm doing 18-19mpg. When I did a real fill, drive, fill test the real figure was actually 14.5mpg. In my 4.3. I don't really believe the computer.

If I take into consideration Petrol, Tyres, Servicing, Insurance and Depreciation then my V8V has cost me approximately £5.31 per mile thus far....!! So, assuming my office is 11 miles away from my house, if I get to work to find that I've left my packed-lunch on the worktop, I am cheaper getting a taxi to the most expensive restaurant in town, having a slap up meal and getting a taxi back than I am driving home to pick up my sandwiches...
You obviously dont work near any good restaurants. gibbon said:

13.8 MPG for me over the last 3000 miles.....going to a 1* Michelin for dinner next week .....downside...no change out of £200....upside its 100m from my home
Then think of the 100m worth of petrol you save !!The trouble is .....Being only 100m away we can walk home obviously...which means we drink more and the wine list is expensive......but it has just been voted in the top 50 restaurants in the country

Doesn't have to be... I ate at El Bulli in Seville a few years back, tasting menu of 32 courses! Asked the sommelier for a recommendation for a bottle that would go with everything, he said try a local Eu15 bottle of white! It was delicious and meant we got out for *only* about Eu750 for two!!yeti said:

Sir you have a drink problem! There's no way I could do 32 courses with only one bottle of wine, let alone if Mrs was there as well. She can't stand me sober.peterr96 said:
Judging by how I felt this morning after "sunday lunch" that seems like a fair appraisal.
I imagine it was something similar to how I felt on Sunday morning after going out to watch the football... I made the massive mistake of discovering a new drink - like a jaeger bomb but with champagne instead of red bull
