Incidentally does anyone else think this is a very poorly written article?

Seems very dismissive from the off and isn't exactly very neutral as a news story should be.

I love the colour. The spoiler is just wrong though! Doesn't suit the lines of the Volante at all.

Here's me in it bowtie

note Ulrich Bez to the right ... he was really exited that I fit (as I am quite tall) and was having me try different seat adjustments

I am also quite chuffed that I beat Swiss_Toni to it and posted these pictures first! laugh

Its the typical PH journalism when it comes to anything Aston. Have given up making comments on any PH written Aston article.

Usually it's just full of comments by people saying 'all Astons look the same'. rolleyes

PH is the only review I've read of the V12V that wasn't positive too.

I'm not normally a ragtop lover but this looks fantastic.....apart from the splitter
Perhaps it's the colour combination in these photos which make it look odd?

There was a rendering of it in red with the splitter colour coded
It looked A LOT better IMO
Might just be my upgrade route when they come on to the used market.

Comments are mostly positive. The article isn't that offensive. It's just lazy journalism.

I agree looks better with the colour coded splitter.
However the new DB9 V also looks so good and is at a much lower price, probably at least £50k difference .

Agreed.

Love the colour too but the Volante just emphasises the awkwardness of the rear spoiler.

Obviously blue/black does not please my eye like red/red.

Great car, with a great engine!

Two major drawbacks imho:
- the small side window: really a design flaw imho, it is something seen on MX5, Z3, etc, and NOT necessary, also not when the mirrors are placed on the doors.....
- the "classic" auto box with torque convertor, which limited fun and top-speed => let's hope at least the SS-3 box finds a place in this one, or better even a manual!

Good news that is has the new V12 engine and +50% more boot space than the DBS Volante.

Looking forward seeing this one on the road, and with other gearboxes.

That small window is an odd design choice... must provide protection from buffetting at higher speeds? confused

Agree on gearbox; trouble with SS3 being offered alongside TT2 that 90% of buyers wouldn't know the difference. This sort of car spends most of it's life in full auto mode anyway so the SS3 is wasted on it and in fact mean Joe Public would buy it and not like it.

A 3-pedal manual of course has an obvious difference, but close to zero chance of that happening.

Maserati had CambiaCorsa / Duoselect alongside Automatica so it can be done however scratchchin

The small window is not a design choice nor a buffet preventer. It is there simply because a full width window would have no place to fully retract into the door panel. As windscreens have tilted farther and farther back over time, this problem has worsened. These are called 'cheater' panels for a reason.

Open the door of your convertible and imagine the window going all the way forward...no place for it to retract into the door.
