While the original design of course looks dated compared to the new Vantage, I think it will stand the test of time far better. Classically elegant in the same way as an E-Type, Dino, Miura etc.
While the new Vantage is very current and on-trend, the general design language feels like it's trying too hard in my opinion and so I think it's always going to look like a car from the mid-late 2010's. Shame, as the overall proportions seem ok and the DB10 that it's based on is lovely, but there is just far too much going on for it to hang together as a cohesive design. I counted 5 different swage lines and profiles running across the door of the new Vantage, compared to just the (perfectly executed) one on the original. And don't even get me started on the front grille - 60+ years of heritage and one of the most instantly recognisable front-end treatments, thrown away in favour of a prolapsed trout’s mouth and an expanse of chicken mesh...

I have never heard anyone talk of dislike of the now old vantage ever (although I dont know anyone in AMOC). I think its already a classic and the special editions with the original v12 (especially the roadster), the v12s manual, AMRs, 'N' Cars topping the classic boards. I think I'll remain purchase happy in the years to come....
Rob, I did. The V12 looks sublime but way to heavy for spirited A-B driving I'm afraid. Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
