Tell me not to get a DB9
Discussion
I had an F360 and followed that with 3 DB9s. Loved the 360 but there were significant downsides.
Firstly, it was too tempting to blast along. I'd quite often think everyone else was going slowly till I looked at the speedo to find that I was doing 120 leptons on a NSL road. It is really intoxicating and the car just begs to be wrung out at 10/10ths.
Secondly, it was not relaxing - you couldn't really "tour" in it - partly because you always wanted to drive it like you stole it, partly as it was too noisy and partly because the ride quality was too harsh. You arrived feeling a bit frazzled
Next was the gearbox. The F1 box was a fine fine thing once you were moving but any slow speed manoeuvering was awful.
Finally was the reaction it engendered. The Aston is relatively anonymous. But in the Ferrari, EVERYONE notices you. In the Aston most reactions are positive (to know what it is you need to be a bit of a petrol head, otherwise it is just a very pretty car). In the 360 there were lots of positive reactions but probably half of the people would make a hand action that suggested they were shaking coffee beans at you. If you like attention, get the Ferrari. I hated it. The wife hated it.
The DB9 is prettier, almost as capable, more laid back. If I wanted to lap the 'ring, I'd take the 360. If I wanted to drive to the 'ring, I'd take the DB9.

I got my DB9 end of last year, and I love it. At someone has already said, it puts a smile on your face every time you drive it! Done 9000 trouble free miles in her. I have sports pack (I love the wheels) but still very comfortable over long distances. Rear seats are small. My wife is only 5'2" so she can have seat far enough forward for my 7 year old daughter to be relatively comfortable, but you need to look at that first if you intend to use them regularly. Go for a 09 MY car or later if poss - big changes that made it a better car. My only major critisizm is the bluetooth handsfree that is rubbish. I have had the upgrade done on the service, but still rubbish!!
I also have a Ferrari Testarossa, and I agree entirely with the commemts on here about how people react. Everyone loves the Aston. Everyone hates the Ferrari. People let you out of junctions and wave at you in the Aston. They deliberately block you and sneer at you in the Ferrari. Wierd but true!!!
You have got to own an Aston if only once in your life - sounds like now is the time for you!!

I agree with Michael. Looking at your profile you definitely should get the Ferrari.
And judging from your profile name I'm guessing the recommended type would be a Dino![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)

if you want back seats get a rapide......i have 55 plate manual db9 coupe......driven daily , never had any problems with it...had it now 3 yrs...and am still grinning..!!!!..manual car much more driver involved and quicker than touchtronic version by 2/10ths of a second...according to handbook.....
the best thing you will ever buy in my opinion.......apart from when i get a dbs , then that would be the best thing.....
Mercifully you spared us yet another picture. the best thing you will ever buy in my opinion.......apart from when i get a dbs , then that would be the best thing.....
Well I went for a mooch around Lancaster Aston Martin just outside Cambridge.
Anyway, they had a lovely 2007 DB9 in stock which they're selling on behalf of a customer, priced at £59k, which I believe is pretty keen for a MY07 car. It even had pretty much the spec I would've chosen with the exception of the colour and trim choices (I honestly can't say I'm a fan of the DBR9 racing green and bitter chocolate, but each to their own).
Still, I'm not in any hurry so I'm more than happy to just keep my eyes peeled at the moment.
Oh, and a full 10 points to Paul Mercer at Lancaster who managed to be polite, friendly and professional, even when confronted by a sweating, unshaven biker asking lots of inane questions.

I had a look at exactly the same car Anyway, they had a lovely 2007 DB9 in stock which they're selling on behalf of a customer, priced at £59k, which I believe is pretty keen for a MY07 car. Never had that reaction in either of the F-cars I owned.I suspect it depends where, and possibly how, you drive

I have to say that the positive vibe around Astons is lessening. I bought my first Aston in 2000 and I detect more negativity now than I did then. But it still is a fraction to the negativity around the 360.

If you're honestly put off buying a car because someone else has one, then you're cutting off your nose to spite your face.If you're not, then playing to the audience and stirring threads across a couple of forums would make you the internet warrior, wouldn't it?
Which is it? Sociopath or lunatic?
