V12 vantage official
Discussion
When I visited the factory back in December to spec my V12, I specifically asked the factory V12 Vantage program manager if there was a roadster or volant model coming out, and they specifically told me 'NO'.
This is coupe only, final V12 Vantage. I also have that confirmed from my dealer in writing as they were aware I wouldn't buy this coupe if a volante was coming after this one.

I think Lexus have already used the LS letters...
Yes, and neither can he reverse the initials as SL has been used too! How about, Aston Martin Strulović 1.
Name for the first mid-engine core model. They might think Vanquish is so last century, Newport Pagnell, brown coats and banging hammers (whereas to us, that is part of the wonderful history. )

Still think they should bring out a DB12 as a final, proper V12 Grand Tourer.
No carbon nonsense or spoilers just a beautiful road car designed for the road. It can be a facelifted DB11 to save money that looks a bit nicer.
What a lovely timeless thing that could be,
Haven't you just described the DBS Superleggera? No carbon nonsense or spoilers just a beautiful road car designed for the road. It can be a facelifted DB11 to save money that looks a bit nicer.

Not quite. I see this slotting below the DBS. An update of the DB11.RichB said:

I read somewhere that Stroll dislikes the name Vanquish, because it sounds negative. I can't agree, but it's his toy box now. Well, well! My joke might not be so far off then.
He does have an opportunity to start afresh, because the next Vanquish (named during the AP era) will be the first mid-engine core model.
Keep that to yourself though.

Plus the name checks out perfectly.

Current DBS with the vaned grill - like the OHMSS is quite fine I think.
Wonder why this isn't a Q option etc. Would think numerous people would tick that box.
Do you mean you wonder why it isn't a standard option?Wonder why this isn't a Q option etc. Would think numerous people would tick that box.
Everything is a Q option! Thats the whole point of Q, it is to option in whatever personal change your mind can come up with.
I cant help thinking the factory are trading on the fact that pretty much all the customers of the new V12 Vantage are new customers, and none of them have been through the loop with the old V12V and fully aware of the fact customers were told in marketing / press releases, in person, and some even had it in writing to them, that their car was the very last V12 Vantage, only to find out it wasn't. There were then a serious of further last ever V12 Vantage sub-versions, non of which were in fact the last one. Even the AMR of course wasn't actually the last one - that title eventually went to the V600.
There is a lot of naivety going on, heads buried in sand, believing what they have been told, because well, they have been told it haven't they! Just buy the car because you love what it is and you want it, but do not buy it because you sincerely believe there will only be 333 of these things in one form or another, because if you do you two will find yourself right back here a few years down the line, informed, remorseful and cynical as those of us who have been there do now.
As an example, the first V12V was originally stated in all the AM official press releases that only 1000 would be made. Those of us who have been there, done that, will recall that within a year or so, they decided to then sell them in the North American market and quickly revoked the 1000 limit. So much so that the original press releases were actually retrospectively unpublished, changed and republished to the AM website with the reference to 1000 cars having been removed. There are however a handful of independent car mag reviews that are still available that mention it.

This is the 'original' AML press release, as it is now;
https://media.astonmartin.com/v12-vantage/
Clearly not showing the normal heading of that era. Even the traditional release date is missing.
Wonder if the Wayback Machine has the original version ?
EDIT - That did not take long. Not the original V12V press release, but the 1,000 limit was referenced in a later 2009 AML press release
'Aston Martin will strictly limit production to 1000 examples.
https://web.archive.org/web/20090826053433/http://...
Also another fun sentence was included. It then took 12 years to add the 'Ultra' aspiration.
' .... ensuring the company retains its position as the world's leading luxury sports car manufacturer.'
Your comment about new customers was Interesting, Adam. We had better not show them my table of Vantage Limited and Special Editions. Starting with the N24 and ending with the V600, there were 31 different Vantage editions, including 13 Vantage V12 editions.
As the new model sold so easily, wonder if they will find the temptation too much to resist the extra revenue?
Hope not this time, if they have promised.

I'm intrigued if you have built any penalties into that letter? What happens if a V12 roadster comes out? This is coupe only, final V12 Vantage. I also have that confirmed from my dealer in writing as they were aware I wouldn't buy this coupe if a volante was coming after this one.

Ah, that is easy to answer. Exactly the same as the Valkyrie.
Before the public launch announcement, AML contact customers and invite them to have special privileged priority to order the open top version.
A Valkyrie together with a Valkyrie Spider, make such a wonderful pair to own.
Word has it, that quite a number accepted the kind offer.
