Aston V12 Values

Congratulations - car looks fantastic!
“@Phil74891 - did you enquire with AM Bristol re getting your car and this one together for a photo as the only two Nero Daytona V12S together? They said someone had enquired about it…”
No, it wasn’t me. I’ve been to AM Bristol once before and they were great, I live much closer to Cheltenham.
I joined AMOC last summer and it has been very good. I’m in Area 22, Gloucestershire. Very active and meetings will get going again properly in June.
Where are you based? Happy to meet up for photographs somewhere.

Ah ace, I love just outside Swindon/Ciren way so not too far from each other! Be great to get them together at some point over the summer “@Phil74891 - did you enquire with AM Bristol re getting your car and this one together for a photo as the only two Nero Daytona V12S together? Need to learn how to drive this beast first - it has so much power! I gave it full throttle getting onto a fast a road and the back end was very twitchy!
This ones a keeper - my kids love it as well although my eldest was hoping I’d go Tesla…but I just had to itch the V12 scratch - so glad I did
It seems like the values of any car below 30k miles are above £75k now.
There is a car on for £63k with 38k miles, it has been around for some time. Seems like a bargain given current prices. Wonder why it hasn't sold? I see cornershop has sold his V12 privately for around £70k. That seems to have moved quickly.
It wasn't long ago that you could get a V12 for under £60k. Definitely an upward trend. I wonder how much of that is the summer and post covid effect? Supply seems to be pretty short.
It will be interesting to see the effect of the march towards electrification has on values. I suppose a lot of that will depend on how realistic ownership of such a vehicle becomes. Availability of fuel, taxation on ice cars and where we can drive them.

I have a V12VSM and a Tesla Model S Performance. My 17 year old son is quite clear which he would rather travel in so you are safe.
Although the Vantage is slower, in almost any situation frankly including cross country roads due to the immediate torque at any time from the Tesla; it actually feels faster and above 70mph most likely is. It is certainly more terrifying and most importantly much harder to drive quickly, which for me is the point. The noise may also help with the theatrics!
I wonder how today's super quick cars will fair in a few years time - not least when Audi, BMW and MB catches up with Tesla in terms of ludicrous performance levels. I suspect if speed is your main aim then the Vantage V12 or Ferrari will get their nuts chewed off by these modern milk floats.

My last family car was a Tesla Model X, and whilst the acceleration was mind boggling, the car didn’t offer character.Today I pulled Fuse 15 (what a difference), took out the parcel shelf and the hooned around the Cotswolds with my wife for five hours Could not stop smiling!
I can imagine the Tesla or equivalent EV for long journeys makes sense, but for now, I can’t see V12 values dropping any further…the sense of occasion is something else!
To top off my first day with the car yesterday, I was about half a mile from home when I drove past a young kid - probably about 10/11 - he heard the car, turned and then started clapping That hasn’t happened in any other car before!

Trouble is you keep doing ballistic 0 to 60s and you'll be lucky to get yourself home as you've run out of kW's. Plus the sound......oh wait, what sound...how boring.SL500UK said:

Probably not so.
I watched the review by Shmee, referred to by a helpful contributor on here.
A Porsche Taycan was driven on a return journey from London to Birmingham.
His commentary was a constant worry about whether the car would reach the next charging point.
At one of his three recharge stops, only one charger was working and he had to wait for it to become available.
Total hanging about time was considerable, so a petrol car would easily beat his electric Porsche on that trip, without requiring any fuel stops.
Did any of you watch the video of an Emissions Free JCB digger ?
It stopped working after 2 hours on site and had to be recharged (from a nearby enormous free standing diesel generator).
Another amusing video is about James May's Tesla model S.
He could not unlock his car.
Even though it has a ton of modern batteries, James discovered to his surprise, that the initial functions are powered by a traditional battery.
If you can manage to reach the emergency bonnet release cords, the lead acid battery can only be charged after spending 45 minutes removing various trim panels. He said he will now fit an extension cable to that battery, so that it can be trickle charged while his car is unused.
Looks as though there might be quite a few 'niggles', for the government, electricity generators and motor industry to deal with, before the 2030 deadline.

I did 650 miles in a day from Suffolk to Exeter and back a month ago in my Tesla. Was free and fast. No waiting to charge, we only stopped for food and toilets. Bit harder in other makes as the Tesla Superchargers are great. That would have been 32 gallons of unleaded in the Aston.
Would have been more fun in my Vantage but more tiring.
Both cars are great but for different purposes. My 5am weekly drive to London is much easier in the Tesla. My annual trip to Zürich I usually take the Aston but ideally would drive there in the Tesla then swap to the Aston.

Model X can tow a trailer 👍🏻Would have been more fun in my Vantage but more tiring.

One more fun fact / comparison.
I have had the Vantage 2.5 years since almost new. Never broken down, only had regular servicing. 10k miles.
I have had the Tesla 1.5 years since new. No regular servicing needed. 5 service centre visits for problems and one full failure needing a new rear motor. 15k miles.
