ok here is my view...
both are basically the same car, but I am a V12V owner so I guess it is clear which way my prefernece went :
1) DBS has a wider appeal due to 2+2, auto and volante options
2) V12V is more "hardcore" and a better drivers car on the edge
3) DBS is a better long haul GT
4) DBS is more jaw droppingly stunning visually
5) V12V appeals more to the younger buyer and looks more "bad ass"
6) DBS has the edge by a tiny margin interior wise
7) V12V is more exclusive
8) DBS is a bit more expensive to buy and run
9) in theory V12V should hold its value better so is cheaper to own
V12V suit me better, mainly because of 2 and 8. In reality option 1 rules most peoples choices.
Not sure I agree with 8 or 9. I think we don't have enough data. both are basically the same car, but I am a V12V owner so I guess it is clear which way my prefernece went :

I do think it's interesting that many folks on here looked at both and ended up picking their car for a variety of reasons. I just liked Mako blue and the first one I saw in Mako was a V12V. As you can tell - point 2 above goes whoosh over my head...
9 - Well I did say "in theory". Then again a lower purchase price means it has less to loose so the DBS would have to depreciate by a lower percentage to loose the same amount of actualy £££, and I think we all accept that this is unlikely.
I have been tracking DBS and V12V prices for the last few years and I don't think we have a big enough sample set of actual traded prices to draw any meaning inferences. I know what mine was on the market for and I know what I paid but we don't have that information about other cars.
Blimey what a choice....Aston's are the only cars I genuinely lust after. Both awesome cars just a case of which one works for you better.
There's a Mako Blue DBS if anyone fancies one on the AUC site

Fascinating, I've been 'watching' the Autotrader advert for that car for about 3-4 months now and it disappeared yesterday from a private sale for £140k, so great to see it up with a dealer for £133k!There's a Mako Blue DBS if anyone fancies one on the AUC site

Great input already. Chucking in my two pennies worth - much as I prefer the DBS' looks, the V12V is the more involving driver's car by a fair margin, although it is less comfortable! So you either want a focused sports car with a GT twist or a GT (mainly auto) with a hardcore twist! What really swings it for me is the price difference - The Vantage offers good value compared to the DBS IMO, although the price gap seems to be narrowing!

Must say I love what the v12v is and always said ts the proper car, but I've had a bds for 2 months after a California and you have to show it respect. I've had alsorts and ths is a beast it's so much torque you can never just flor it. Given the vintages short wheelbase I can't imagine it being useable in anything but perfect conditions.
It looks mean though!
But the DBS is pure class!!!!

The announcement (if true) is greatly welcomed by yours truly. Am on my 3 V8, currently a roadster 4.7 with sports exhaust and cats, yeh it's loud alright. But always wanted the V 12 in drop head ...... Best colours combo? Black on black......Green just doesn't sit right.........will be in Geneva for th launch....
Great dilemma to have!
I'm being serious when I say this but have you considered the size difference in the two? The DBS is a much bigger car due to rear seats, bigger bonnet and rear. Standing next to the two it's really amazing how big a car the DBS actually is.
If I had to choose between the two I would pick the V12V not only because I love the Vantage shape more - but because the DBS simply wouldn't fit in my garage or parking space at work!

I choose the V12V over the DBS due to the more sportier appearance and the more "tight" handling due to the shorter wheelbase. Also the V12V has shorter overhangs which help avoiding most sleeping policemen in London driving. Finally the rear hatch of the V12V makes it more practical as it has a larger luggage compartment as a result (given that you never use the rear seats in the DBS anyway(.
