DBS and DB9 replacement presented in Italy next week-end?

Ok, in the same color with similarly revolting wheels
It is no contest. Replacement failure (too bad).
OK the DBS does indeed look better (and probably the DB9 even better in term of "purity" of the lines as it has less air intake which IMHO "break the flow")It is no contest. Replacement failure (too bad).
The more I see the rear the more the line looks like a old Ferrari GT (not a good think). Again I hope it is a matter of colour
Words like disgusting, revolting and so on really have no place here - it's not a Fiat Multipla or a Korean car - it is a show car and therfore must have eye-catching detail everywhere possible, think about the 'Q' cars at Geneva! I agree, it looks overstyled to my eyes, even my 'chavved up' DB9 is really a study in good taste by comparison. But then could you call the Aventador or 712b understyled?
The colour is a poor choice (to impress the Chinese?) for a show car as it makes the very prominent front spoiler stick out. Interesting it's the same colour as the Zagato, also poorly recived. Then you see it in Aston green and go 'ooooh...'. The wheels are lousy but they (or similar) have been on the last DBS limited editions. There will be classier options of course. Carbon roof - smart move, very cool and good use of tech. Rear would look better if it wasn't red lights on a red car. Again, options there I'll bet...
The wheelbase and proportions... I don't think we're seeing enough pictures to judge, it would be great to see it next to the DBS. The fact the bonnet has been raised for crash regs is hard to hide and that much unpainted carbon and composite at the front is a bit GTR-like. When I saw this car in motion near Gaydon, I thought it was Vantage sized. It does appear squat even on the road... However, it looks WAY better in silver
I'm glad it's in the open as it's never fun not being in the clique... Now we all know. Roll on the interior shots!
A very good point was made above; DB7, Vanquish, DB9, pedal-car V8 - all were loved at first sight by everyone. So far, there has been very negative reaction to this by almost everyone. Sad really. I hope there is a chance for some details to be refined, it might not need more than a few subtle changes. But the beauty has gone to be replaced by aggression, which was sort of the idea of Vanquish from DB7. But >somehow< it managed to become the most beautiful Aston of them all! This has so far missed the mark

The new car will bring AM back into the 21st century with all the new tech and help compete with the other exotic cars currently available IMO
Well, it is your opinion. But I'm betting that the verdict will not be kind to this failed execution of a replacement to the current DB9/DBS.We may love Aston, but that doesn't mean that sometimes manufacturers get it all wrong when it comes time to a replacement. Many think the new MB SL is not an improvement, for example.
I'm sure SOME will like the new design, but EVERYONE liked the old design. And that's the problem. If you are going to replace perfection, you'd better do a bang up job. The fact that there are negative comments from Aston owners is not an auspicious start.

Do your best not to drag this into the off topic hedgerow, please.
Au contraire, I'm extremely pleased that Seb's posting has dragged it OUT of the hedgerow of spurious claims and Non Disclosure bks that it was currently in. Judging by the absence of postings by some regular posters on either of the threads about this topic I'm sure I'm not alone in my sentiments.I have not intervened in either of these threads until I saw the pictures, after which I posted a relevant and balanced opinion. If this encourages a kindly soul to enquire as to my health then it is only polite to reply

That is utterly revolting. Horribly overstyled. That splitter, those sills and those wheels
Makes me appreciate the DB9's beauty even more.
No it's not...nor is it ugly as has been previously posted !!Makes me appreciate the DB9's beauty even more.
I still believe it's a stunning car but I'm miffed that I was being led down a path of 'revolution' when this design just about constitutes 'evolution'.
Not sure at all either about the rear lights looking anything like the One-77 with its full width light

I wouldn't call an Aventador or F12b classy or elegant either, which is exactly what an Aston Martin should be imo. This does not look classy or elegant, it looks like it would be bought by some Arab playboy. I also wouldn't class this as a direct competitor to the two cars previously mentioned.A few more picture here but still no interior

Also the article seems to reflect some skepticism.

interesting design of the side skirts, thee open rear spoiler and the newly designed rear diffuser. In the case you did not notice, the rear lights are borrowed from the One-77 and the front lights are also used on the Aston Martin Virage.

The picture does not do it justice. The wheels on the one i saw were so much better. The carbon roof is an optional extra along with the mirror casings. I saw the car in a copper colour with very light cream interior - When you all see it in the flesh you will have another opinion IMO. I think the people that have seen it already, will agree with me.
Cant believe the picture as been shown - thats the French for you!
Completely agree. The car i saw in Gaydon was miles better than theses contrasting colours and wheels. Cant believe the picture as been shown - thats the French for you!

Jockman we might hope that the final production version will have some revision ;-)
However I think the initial reaction most of all for who already owns an Aston Martin might abate with time. It is very difficult not to disappoint if you follow cars like DB9, DBS, V8 Vantage or Vanquish even if you just present an "evolution" of the lines.
I would like to understand from AM what is the 75% new
Personally when I saw the DBS for the first time I really thought there where too many air intakes and aerodinamic stuff which were just negatively impacting the clean and elegant lines of the DB9
AM colour choice did not certainly help
Where are the pictures of the interior as I am curious to see if there are changes.
It seems that there is a new navigation system and that by itself is a great thing

I like it, agree with Jockman about rear light continuing and 4 bonnet vents, that is if it is the DBS replacement, not too keen on the contrasting colours as I think this is what makes it look so overstyled to some but I love the more curved muscular flanks I'm not so fussed about the wheels I'm sure others will be available. It will be interesting to see what turns up in the showrooms to view.

If every body panel is slightly different to before, even if the overall look is similar, they can state it's all new ! :-)
Engine improved, new exhaust system, revised suspension, etc all add up to the 75% claim.........not necessarily mis leading but makes it sound newer than it is....
agree totally on colour choices - two tone black/silver wheels are fine on a Lambo (which I love) but for me, they don't belong on this car. Wonder if splitter can be painted ? Carbon roof & mirrors are options, although I think they could look ok on say quantum silver
