Is there definitely not going to be a new DBS? It's the best looking car they currently make
Nope, they are using the DB12 as hybrid in between car essentially. It is making it tempting to pick one up in a couple of years if I decide not to keep the Vantage. But hey the DB12 might be enough as well.
As sad as it is, I might want the CF body of the dbs more if the db12 lacks it.

... they're just keeping their cards close for the moment to maximise sales, by keeping their newest model in the limelight, to discourage anyone from holding out for something better
Well, well, perhaps that is a technique used by Marketing Department.
Strange, because they must have forgotten to tell Lawrence Stroll. About a year ago he said, there is a very much improved range of sports cars coming next year. Replacements for each model. Funny that so many potential buyers, must have heard about him saying that and so they have been holding out for something better.

Is he always this impulsive when he speaks?
Initially we were probably slow to notice, but one of his strangest reported statements was,
“We don’t need any more money at all. Let me be crystal-clear, black-and-white: we do not need money.”
Just a few months later, Aston Martin asked investors for money. Big money, about £560 million.
Raising money is a regular AML routine (someone has to top-up the losses). This week, another £95 million was raised through the issue of new additional shares.

The photos do not show too much, but we can see a screen ahead of the steering wheel and controls on the steering wheel spokes.
Lawrence Stroll has referred to a touch screen.
In that case, there has to be a second screen, because obviously putting an arm through the steering wheel to touch a screen, is not practical.
Mercedes have now been using the screen ahead of the steering wheel for a few years.
Until recently (new E Class launch) a central portrait touchsceen has been widely used (S-Class; C- Class and SL).
Wonder if the DB12 might use that?
A large dominant centre portrait sceen is not my favourite, so was pleased to see the new E-Class will now have that incorporated in the dashboard (landscape). That car also has completey new version of the MBUX software.

EXTRACT
An agreement with Mercedes-Benz meant Aston Martin could only use the German firm’s technology once it had been used in Mercedes models for three years – “a silly thing the previous management agreed to”, according to Stroll.
He confirmed that the new car will get a touchscreen infotainment system, differentiated from Mercedes’ tech by “our own faces, our own voices – a proper English accent".
...............................................
The tech shown in the S-Class photo, has been used in a Mercedes model for three years. The successor version (MBUX 3rd generation) has only just been announced. I doubt Aston Martin would be allowed to use that.
Then we come to the question, of what does Lawrence Stroll really mean by, "a proper English accent"?
Brian Sewell, Arthur Mullard, perhaps a person from Newastle, Liverpool, Norfolk, Somerset or Wolverhampton.
Not sure why it was even mentioned, because the UK versions of Mercedes-Benz cars, don't have Herr Flick speaking on the infotainment system.

I reckon we should lobby for the different functions to be voiced by the lads from Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, cue suggestions of what bit each character should do….
I am out of my depth with this.
However, I do know, Wye eye hiddy.
Have never known what it means.
Might it be apprropriate for use with the Lane Assist function ?

Touch buttons on steering wheel ssuck, no manufacturer has been able to integrate them in/on the steering wheel to not being touched by coincidence when operating (steering) the car. What's wrong with good old haptic feedback buttons?
Bentley is the only manufacturer who has been able to use the best out of the digital and analog world.

It is odd considering they were at pains to say the new infotainment included actual buttons and then ignore that for the steering wheel. What's wrong with good old haptic feedback buttons?

They’ve already shown a preview shot of the touch screen and the lovely buttons. Thank goodness they have retained buttons. Those latest Merc interiors look cheap with tacked on screens and no buttons which make for a UX disaster. Same with BMW. In that case, there has to be a second screen, because obviously putting an arm through the steering wheel to touch a screen, is not practical.

Funny story.
When I first took one of my friends for a drive in my Aston, I had the CarPlay Siri voice set to Indian male. We were some time into the drive and I hadn’t used voice control yet. We pulled over in an area with poor phone reception and I pressed the voice control button on the steering wheel and asked it to play a playlist. The “car” responded in an Indian accent explaining that this is not possible at the moment. My friend absolutely exploded with uncontrollable laughter. He thought it was the Aston Martin voice that had an option to choose your favourite colonial assistant and another wonderful quirk of it being so very British.
