Went for a weekend in the country for birthday celebrations. 2km dirt road into resort- flat tyre and destroyed a month old rear tyre. The inflator kit got us home though

Had a wonderful weekend

Yeah we enjoyed it. Big Lotus presence too which kept me happy. They were certainly playing fast and loose with their definition of 'supercar' though, given that a Cygnet followed us in.

What always amuses me is laughing at the egos of the people that do this!

I don't really care, nice to have some variety. If you wanted to be picky about what a supercar is then you'd have sent home 95% of the cars there - starting with the Vantages and 911s!

What have you done in your Aston today? Well, I washed my DB9 in preparation for taking the Mrs. away for a couple of nights in Suffolk. The kids are with grandparents, and to have time to ourselves is almost unheard of.

So, I decided to take her away for a surprise break - it's got nothing to do with taking the Aston for a few days blast - at least that's what I told her.

Brownie points and I get to drove the car for three days - pics to follow.

I don't have one, but it isn't actually that hard to do. The biggest challenge is that you have to do it blind since you can't really see the topside of the gearbox. That was the worst part of doing it while everything was so hot... When cold, no biggie. Just reach your hand up there and feel for the cable. Trace the cable toward the rear of the car. The end is the socket, so you just need to feel around for the ball mount. Once you've found that, press the socket onto the ball and give a little wiggle to make sure it's 'secure' (as secure as it can be, anyway). Everything's close together so it's not terribly difficult to find each bit, but you have to do it by feel.
Great write up of one of those instances that happens to all petrol heads, the car failing you at a very inconvenient moment. I just wish I had your knowledge and skills to repair it!

Agreed.
Apparently Q do a front splitter with a strip of turf underneath, only £5K.

Wow, what a great idea, would save having to park in the grass to get the same effect

Am I correct? Think I read a warning in the handbook, about not parking on long grass.
Presumably there is a risk of starting a fire.
