So what have you done with your Aston today?

Am I correct? Think I read a warning in the handbook, about not parking on long grass.
Presumably there is a risk of starting a fire.
Sounds about right, my dad parked his on the back lawn to take some photos after a drive and the next day found he had a big patch of scorched grass. Presumably there is a risk of starting a fire.

Took the DBS for one final drive, before selling it yesterday![weeping](/inc/images/weeping.gif)

I have a V12 AMR on order for delivery later this year (Hopefully), or early next year. Very excited, but sad that I couldn't keep the DBSV as they are different cars that I would have enjoyed equally in different ways
Will be a long wait, but I'm hoping to get out in it as much as I can in 2018

Realising it's been since May when I first got my V8V and that to date the longest journey I have done was returning back to AM Bristol, I decided to get my act together and make use of the car as intended!
I am fortunate to live in Herefordshire which is (and I am biased) The Most Beautiful County in the UK™. No dispute. Its roads are also surrounded by glorious views and with a minimal population, aren't too snarled out beyond the main A roads.
With two nights of unexpected freedom from family commitments (camping is a wonderful activity, I am sure... if they hadn't invented bricks, mortar and roof tiles
), I failed to plan in advance. So, I randomly came across the Greatest Driving Roads website. Compact and very nicely written, it wasn't too surprising to see several highlighted across the border in Wales.
As a long-term reader until recently of Evo magazine, I'd read a lot about the "Evo Triangle" which the magazine made full use of to "technically test" their latest cars. This is featured on this website ( Link ). However, it's a little further north and a few other roads also featured:
B4520 to/from Brecon
A44 to/from Aberystwyth
I know the A44 vaguely. But the closer one, the B4520 is new to me.
Quickly searching, I booked an amazingly cheap room directly at Caer Beris Manor Hotel near the northern end of the B4520. At £44 for a single room including breakfast, I didn't have high hopes. But it was a fantastic base with secluded parking following the drive up the B4520 last night...

Wow... just wow! What a brilliant road the B4520 is. Not too long, it has several very interesting sections. Sweeping in places, wild in others (cattle grids, roaming sheep, etc.), it is a true gem. Worth waiting until dusk to ensure there was no traffic in front (apart from a local old BMW 3 series which left me for dust - but I'm not interested in taking risks on a public road).
This morning I set off at 6am to avoid traffic for Aberystwyth via the A44. It is a longer road and dramatic scenery. Very good road, but perhaps too much like the roads I'm used to anyway (I know I am spoilt!). The clouds met the road at its summit but thankfully didn't evolve into a pea-soup scenario and I could still make progress for the couple of miles.
I'm now sitting in a coffee shop working remotely and thinking on side what roads I'm going to explore this evening and tomorrow morning. I think I'll leave the Evo Triangle to another trip as the website also recommends the A4086 between Caernarfon and Snowdon.
The best thing is that I remain still sooooo impressed with the V8V. The roads in Wales are smoother, but considering the state of the ones in my home county, I'm still glad I have the Comfort suspension setup. The steering feel is silky, rich and leaves you in no doubt (by far the best steering feel overall of any car I've owned including our Twingo Sport go-kart). The engine is glorious ... and truly spine-tingling past 6,000rpm but could still be more vocal otherwise, which will hopefully be sorted by the AM de-cat on Wednesday. Above all, it is special for every second of your time with you. It's impossible not to glance over the shoulder or feel exceedingly privileged when soaking in the view from behind the wheel.

the wait will be long, sorry for the DBS.
My heater knobs were looking rather dull and sad. I didn't want to go the route of the aftermarket knobs, as you lose the illumination of what position the knob is in. Therefore I had my existing ones polished up. They came out spanking and look gorgeous now. Fortunately got a mate who has a mini workshop in his back yard.

hope so, I might be planning something for next year 24 hours of Le Mans, the right place to show your V12AMR

Perhaps I'm due a parrot but aren't those aftermarket? My DB9 of that era had knobs that match the radio ones![](https://image.ibb.co/fWFZCF/20170812_150647.jpg)
