No, probably not, he defected to Ford and got confused... laugh (he was in charge of racing anyway)

DP114/2 was a style excercise by Aston as a potnetial replacement for the DB MkIII - it was built by Aston at Newport Pagnell (as were DB MkIIIs incidentally even though they have Feltham on the chassis plate) - It was a frumpy lookiing thing with none of the grace of the DB MkIII and none of the style of the DB4. David Brown rejected the design of DP114/2 and commisioned Touring of Milan to design the DB4. Originally the plan was to sell the DB MkIII on the home market alongside the DB4 for export but that idea soon fizzled out and although the MkIII was sold alongside the DB4 sales of the MkIII dried up by summer '59. smile

That does look like the car that John Wyer refers to in his book as "a very rare Touring-bodied Superleggera DB2/4" (picture 1959). He may have been confused Rich. He gave up managing the Racing Team surprisingly at the end of 1956 when he became General Manager of AML, passing the management of the Racing Team to Reg Parnell, ex AML racing driver and very close friend,,,,, fascinating stuff that's for sure.

"Superleggera",,,, I do like the sound of that,,,,

Great colour combination, would spec a DBSS Volante with this exterior colour I think!
(BTW, I think this is Pentland Green, not Buckinghamshare Green as the titel suggests?)

Thank you all. I'm pleased. Got it back yesterday after having a few paint 'issues' sorted.

Looks ace. I love the colour combination.
Now you only need to get rid of the ASTON MARTIN lettering and replace it with a wing badge at the back.

Does now. There were a number of issues when those photographs were taken (New Years Eve when I took delivery). See if you can spot one here:

Very hard to spot on the photo V8.. What did it have blemishes or swirls?

Question is does it sound as good as the SVR?? LOL.

Cracking car, I'd be tempted to replace the 'ASTON MARTIN' with a golden badge, to match the wheels, gold and green works smile

Great colour combo - sorry to sound like a stuck record but it's missing a badge and got too many lbs of letters ...

As a wild guess ref paint issue - Small scratch on the roof?

A beautiful addition to your magnificent Aston Martin collection, Phil.

I note your registration mark is being advertised for sale.
Have you perhaps got your eye on 3 PMW as a replacement?
