Same here Bob, although my garage won't be as big and my BR'ing not quite so complicated!
Thats why you'll notice how I spelled gararge, to reflect its ample proportions,,,,,no honest. smile

Vesuvius makes steady progress; These images, taken recently whilst in theatre at BR, provide a clue as to the extent of the procedures she is undergoing. Chief consultant Mike Beake, confirms he and his fellow surgeons are optimistic that the ground breaking surgery developed around Vesuvius, may produce a level of performance exceeding their orignal expectations.

BR is hopeful that by Thursday of this week, following fine tuning on Wednesday, that the speculation will have ended, they will have their answer in hand.

Under the Bamford Rose thread, Mike will shortly be revealing some more detail of the 'hardware' developed recently in connection with the Vesuvius project.

Bloody Hell Bob you are about to take delivery of one monster of a car! Pearl and I are at BR tomorrow. Do you mind if I have a peep?
Be my guest Rob but please remember she is still in quarantine, vulnerable until she comes out of intensive care, Mike will advise. Whats the brief with Pearl, more BR TLC. wink

V8LM,,thankfully no body damage, some surface paintwork rectification only. Mike tells me that there was a factory paint repair that had not been carried out in the correct manner, once again BR will remedy the situation. clap The rear lights are out to have c/f infills fitted at the same time.

I dropped my car off at BR this morning for it's service and I can confirm all the paintwork is still looking pristine. Vesuvius looks absolutely fantastic with her new pipe work , although not quite road ready yet without the rear bumper and wheels. This is one very special car, Vanquish spec performance in a much prettier body - lovely cloud9
Glyn thank you. We are waiting a final dyno report before we dare think of her taking a place on the bhp podium. I hope she makes it, Mike and his team deserve it. yes

No doubt they're rocket-ship fast; but that's both cars now dynoed at 545bhp in factory spec - what are Aston playing at? DBS I think delivered about 506bhp instead of 510, my DB9 446 instead of 450, all within an acceptable level.

But 545 for a Vanq engine promising 565 is really not on. That's too different.

Your cars should be making 600 honest BHP with those BR mods frown
Lewis, I agree re the factory Vanq bhp shortfall, 20 horses missing is criminal and I'd have been every bit as knarked as was the owner of Cavendish when it was discovered. Not sure if its a breach of Trading Standards law or not? However, Vesuvius pre her BR surgery was within 6 bhp of the published bhp and as Mike says, with such low mileage it was likely to be the case. Post op bhp has increased by 67bhp to achieve 571 still with a tight engine, forecast to top out after 2k at the level of Cavendish around 580bhp, with an extra 44Nm too, that'll do me nicely, very nicely.

So looking forward to tomorrow now and the handover at Millbrook and then getting out on the road and enjoying our super, super Volcano red Aston Martin, DB9.2. Vesuvius,,,,anyone going to Snetterton Saturday, see you there.

I hope you find this interesting;

We started looking seriously at a 'new' rather than 'pre-owned' Aston last autumn. It coincided with a Vanquish launch event at Lancaster Cambridge, invited we went along. The truth is, we knew that Vanquish was at the very top of the budget but if I/we liked it enough, its what we would have bought. As it turned out, fortunately for the bank balance, the front splitter, internal bubble wrap leather stitching and exagerated center console waterfall sides were not for me/us, extreme anything quickly dates and for us that meant a Vanquish was a no go.

When I started to research the new DB9.2, you can imagine how delighted I was to read the spec list, next generation same engine as Vanquish II, matching DBS bhp, yet with greater torque, all the goodies that were on its predecessor Virage, the package was irresistable.

Then came BR, the story there has been fairly well covered elsewhere on the forum. Cutting to the chase, today at Millbrook saw what Mike referred to as the most powerful Aston he has ever driven around the Millbook tracks, especially of note, he commented: "Vesuvius shocked even me around the hill route circuit how well he handled the 570 odd BHP - in soft mode..!

At the long mile straight we listened to 3 Vanquish (semi) roar away hitting redline in each gear. Then when it was Vesuvius turn, it was striking how evident it was just how much faster Vesuvius rev'd up through each gear, leaving little doubt Vesuvius well and truly Vanquishes and Vanquish.

Therefore, having not chosen the Vanquish II but having BR work their magic on our DB9.2, we now have a car we much prefer the look of, with a performance way over that of a factory Vanquish. Vesuvius dyno revealed 571bhp @ 7500 rpm and 625Nm @ 5500 rpm.

What was the cost of this DB9.2 enhancement I hear you ask, less than 20% of the difference in the basic cost price of both cars, impressing my best mate no end.yes

We have in addition some seat embroidery, external carbon fibre and grille alterations to complete, all work that 'Q' refused to do.

Hats off to Mike and all at Bamford Rose, a fully independent company, with a level of devotion from their staff rarely seen these days, never was anyone more deserving of success, the competition must be extremely envious. bow

Bob, I'm so chuffed for you. The wait has been worthwhile, and the car is simply the best of all options neatly packaged in the most beautiful body. I look forward to meeting you soon and seeing Vesuvius in the flesh. thumbup
Molly - Rob - Jeff - Neil - Glyn - Mark - Lewis,,,,such kind words and thank you, thank you very much. You know as well as I do that its all down to Aston Martin and Bamford Rose really. I've simply pieced together various options, taking what in my opinion are the most appealing features of what is currently available, creating something every inch Aston Martin yet unique in its detail. I am however very pleased that Vesuvius meets with your approval, it means an awful lot to me, you guys know the marque inside and out, so thanks again, aren't these cars just something else though!!

Incidentally, I absloutely accept what Stewart says about the Vanquish II, Cavendish wears the BHP crown, no doubt about that. yes

Great looking car Bob and with the BR pack will be awesome. Ha! I did my DBS the other way round. Paintshield first and now Thor's at BR getting the V12 upgrade. It's my second BR fettled car and I'm hoping it'll be even better than the job they did on my V8V. I very nearly went for a DB9.2 rather than the DBS and after reading about the great result that you've had I'm hoping than I didn't make the wrong choice! I was torn between the two. Time will tell. I'm itching now to get him back. Happy motoring!
Great choice lime1, nothing bad can be said about DBS in my book! BR'd she'll be outstanding, like the sound of what you're doing, like it a lot. yes If I missed it sorry but did we see Thor yet?

Yesterday took Vesuvius on her first day out, an AMOC GT4 race day at Snetterton. As responsible parents we thought it was time she was introduced to other Astons, learn something about how the real world operates, until now she's been rather spoiled. hehe

The highlight of the day was the Parade lap,,,fancy the officials expecting 25 red blooded Aston owners not to fall back behind the Safety car and then belt it back up to it again, and again, and again, Vesuvius in full BR battle cry,,,,,,,bugger I did enjoy that. yes

We are oblidged to Aston Martin Lancaster Cambridge, particularly Tim Boardman, for providing us with the full VIP hospitality throughout the day, Pit walk, meeting drivers, sitting in one of their race cars (which I was fortunate to be able to do in what subsequently turned out to be the winning car). The Norfolk wind was blowing but the sun was shining and we had a great great day, well done Aston Martin Hospitality.

Thor at Paintshield waiting for PPF. Only pic I have at present. More will follow when I get him back. Sounds like you had a great day. Hopefully the weather will still be decent when I get the chance to try out my new acquisition.

I find myself smiling every time I see a DBS, they look so 'right'. Its a dry day here in the east, have fun. smile

We've all read accounts on here of Aston drivers experiencing public appeal of these cars, traffic queues letting them in, petrol station 'respect' encounters etc etc. The thumbs up we've seen, or a hand curved around the back of an ear asking to hear the sound of the exhaust, well its all a new and enjoyable experience, people love Aston Martins don't they. thumbup
