From my observation, the banter and inside jokes have gotten excessive; post the JLC trip. It certainly seems that a clique has been formed by the JLC participants (not unexpected, mind you), but nevertheless resulting in the inevitable spate of banter/jokes unappreciated by many who post here.

It would be good if some restraint was exercised by those involved, since there can be many lively, interesting and useful conversations posted here without resorting to endless he said/she said back-and-forths, and the veiled insults that follow.
Steve, that maybe JLC participants, D&D participants, Welsh run participants, Yorkshire run participants, Hever Castle participants, Brands Hatch participants & soon to be Le Mans for some and many other drives out(Read Park & Polish) / events that have been organised by like minded individuals. A lot of people on here have met and made good friends through the forum and the banter is fun and yes sometimes a little bit 'in'. If you are unhappy with that subject because it has nothing to offer you, then perhaps don't read it? Just sayin wink

Some of the people on here I have never met, yet I seem to have some fun and some serious discussions with them also, so not much of a clique really or perhaps several cliques overlapping? I am probably considered in one or many of those cliques I guess rolleyes but I for one enjoy the banter, so what to do? Do we all go away and leave this to a factual questions and answers forum only or do we continue to enjoy the banter and rely on intelligent people to skip our posts on the basis it is not relevant? It is a public forum after all, is it not?

Perhaps some demon on the forum could do a poll and see if the banter / joking around is now OTT? Not that I would care what people think particularly as it is a free world and I am free to post whatever garbage I like and others are free to ignore it biggrin Just sayin. No insult, finger pointing or argument intended in anything I have said to any other forum member.

....PS: interesting to notice that all the discussions on the F-Type were opened by Aston Owners
That's because you are on the Aston Forum.

Guess who starts all these discussions on the Jaguar forum?....Jaguar owners, of course. It really is as simple as that.

As for your usual inane drivel....yup you'd better check who went on JLC because I certainly didn't.

You are using editing in a very devious manner to alter the meaning of your postings. On the other thread you edited your 'final' posting at 11.49 then edited again at 13.39 to remove any footnote evidence of your previous edit as well as include onto your list of disapproval - Woolders, PiloteAM, B4rnstable and RobGT. I do not accept your excuse.

You proceeded to hijack another thread about insults thrown at Aston drivers and rejigged it to see if we may well have deserved those insults. Mikey K - is now tarnished with the 'lighthearted' accusation that by sitting with his wife in a petrol station in France he warranted abuse by subconsciously calling everyone else a pleb. You were chastised by Yeti - so you maintained it was a joke.....then left the insult up for people to see confused You have been chastised by Yeti again on this thread. You need to read between the lines.

I stand by my belief that you are a trolling fantasist.

I didn't suggest that banter should disappear, but rather that it should be restrained somewhat so that threads don't devolve in the insults that seem to have become more prevalent since the JLC trip (I understand that other meet ups certainly contribute to the cliquey-ness).

You suggest not reading the postings, but human nature being what it is, it is hard to ignore the back and forths that go on in the middle of what was an interesting thread (like an accident on the road...you can't look away).

The restraint to be shown is to stop after the first couple of insults. We get it, but it doesn't have to go on and on. Not everyone has to have the last word.

This is a good forum and is a place to share a love of Astons and useful tech information, but when you search for what seems like a useful/interesting topic, you often find that after 3 replies, it goes completely (and interminably) off into the weeds.

Just asking for a little self moderation...

Ah, so you are the one that looks at the accident and makes me late home? yes They are not interesting you know, just keep your eyes on the road and ignore the carnage on the opposite carriageway... seriously it is not interesting biggrin That was my poor attempt at banter with you. That makes you in the clique now yes Oops sorry, I had the last word didn't I. Sorry Steve, I will refrain in future. nono

I do agree with you that the insults are getting monotonous and people need to refrain from feeding the trolls.

I was just saying that it was said more people from jag is coming over but if discussion are started (and some contains nasty comemnts on people owning or buying jags that should ashame who wrote them) it is not surprising that some other people might comments also because I am sure there is quite a lot of people who loves both brands. Never saw such comments on Astons in the Jag forum(but honestly do not follow a lot it)

You really always try to put things personally. I am talking about behaviour not judging individual that I do not even know

Fantastic now you pretend you are even tracking my edits. If I have removed that (honestly do not track them myself) what is the issue? Do you want to read the time of the edit (and there will always be the time of the alst edit anyway) or the content of the message? So what are you accusing me of with those edits? Of removing useless text which makes the message longer?

Jockman said:

This is a complete lie. STOP putting names in my mouth. I have not added anybody in any list and certainly not this people. Show me where I have added those names
I have never made reference to specific individuals but only behaviours and this has been raised also by others also in this discussion (but you do not give the same attention to them as you do for me, maybe just because I do not have an Aston)

Jockman said:

Can you read the messages and also the response Yeti gave me? I was having difficulties to believe that somebody can be insulted only for the cars he/she has and, given some behaviour of supercars owner (not only Aston) I thought that, at least in some cases, those insults might have been deserved. There was also a post from N7GTX regarding also Honda Jazz driver

Why should I delete that (so I should edit that) if I have explained it was only a joke? More than happy to apologise with Mikey K if he still believe it was an insult (from his response I thought he also understood). Are you his lawyer?

Jockman said:

Certainly value the comments from Yeti and I am sure he writes his own comments so no need for you to do your reading between the lines of things written by others to others

Even if in the road presence discussion Whoami was wondering why I deserved such a reaction from you

Jockman said:

There are moderators to stop trolling, you can report and they will decide, till then your belief on me is as valid as mine on you

Guess that if you go from the individual harassment mode to a stand-by mode we could avoid a lot of un-necessary posts

Or you could just find another car to fantasise about and start trolling on that forum ??

See how long you last insulting Ferrari owners.

Just a thought.

Btw, your original posting on the other thread made no mention whatsoever of the people caught speeding in France. Your edited version did. You really must think people are stupid.

As said no trolling or insulting from my side and still like reading about Aston Martin and when I will have the time to drive it no problem to buy one with much more knowledge based on the good stuff that you can find here.

Do not think too much

DO not disapprove or even judge individuals most of all if I do not know them (whilst you do) but specific behaviours. Did not even know (and honestly I was not interested in knowing it as in the JLC thread I was mainly focusing on the pictures) who were the individual drivers caught in France

Do you honestly believe that if you are driving on the road a somebody overtakes you on the wet substantially exceeding the speed limit you might not attract deserved insults not due to the car that you drive?

We have all done stupid things (most of when we were young) but they still remain stupid things to do

It looks and sounds fantastic - Vantage fans watch this bit:

Yummy!
Just got round to watching that, thank you for posting
I do like his reviews
Very well thought out and pretty objective I'd agree with him 100%
Shame he didn't pitch the V8VS as the steering and suspension is a lot better
The F type does sound good!

Having previously owned a V8V and contributed to this forum in the past, I still read the forum and threads with interest, as I know I will be an Aston owner once more.

What I have seen over the past few years is a change in the quality of posts by those that can now afford to buy a used Aston for £30K as opposed to the normal lowered hot hatch with tinted windows, fake exhaust being driven by a midget in a baseball cap.

Maybe there should be a second Aston forum based on level of intelligence.

Just saying......

So wealth is directly proportional to intelligence? A lifetime wish to own a premium brand car and saving hard to do so makes me unable to put a decent sentence together? Thanks for your useful input.

That really is an insulting supposition to make and totally wrong.
Just because some of us can only afford £30-£50k for an "experienced" Aston Martin does not automatically render us
incapable of making a reasoned and intelligent contribution to this forum (or any other forum for that matter).
It's time that the snobbishness disappeared or, if you really feel that way, just stop submitting insults!
If people like you attend some of these "meets" that we are always hearing about, I'm glad I haven't come across you.

Nicely put Chris, very eloquent in fact. Oh, and don't worry, with my limited experience of the fantastic forum meets, he wouldn't last long at one.
