Re the sill mod - I prefer the old std sill, not the later 4.7 style - what exactly is involved in 'going retro' - are both sill types interchangeable - just clipping on or is there professional / expensive work involved
If I ever get the money, I could be tempted by the 4.7 (wanting more lazy torque) but prefer the purity of the 4.2 initial design

Early 4.7s have the classic shape, best of both worlds.
Exactly. The original sills were standard equipment through the first 1/4 of MY2012. The N400 sills became an option for MY10, and became standard for MY12.25.To each his own, and all V8Vs are gorgeous, but imo the original design is the best-looking of them all.

I've taken the extended sills off my V12V and put the original ones on because I much prefer the way they accentuate the rear arches. Yes they are interchangeable! If I ever get the money, I could be tempted by the 4.7 (wanting more lazy torque) but prefer the purity of the 4.2 initial design
The original design is my personal preference too.
As well as there being the illusion of wider rear wheel arches, I also like the continuous smooth contour, from arch to arch of the tailgate 'lip'. That continuous curve was lost on the later models.
Can quite understand though, that the Vantage needed a refresh to renew customer interest. The total production period was of course very much longer than that of most cars.
Henrik Fisker, who knows a bit about design, put the original sills on his personal V12V.
To me, the Vantage is one of those exceedingly rare designs that was perfect from the start. Like the DB4, E-type series 1, XK120, they're all beautiful, but any change from the original makes it slightly less perfect.

I actually agree with you all. I've decided not to do the side sills on this car as I just love the clean lines and accentuated haunches.
Funny, because when I was first into the scene I was adamant I needed them fitted. Somehow I feel the cars look more balanced and less bottom heavy without the side sills. Still, they look amazing, I've just saved myself some money!

I’ve modified my TVR to the extent that it bears little resemblance to the car that left the factory... still 5 litre but on new coscast block (larger bore shorter stroke), huge amount of top end mods, aftermarket ecu (no dizzy), triple tb’s bespoke cam, decatted, bigger discs 4 pot callipers uprated suspension and a whole lot more.... it’s a great track day car and hilarious to drive.. the Vantage however, I will never modify... I enjoy it’s beauty and its ‘purity’.... as someone said above, something to the effect of don’t mess with perfect
Well, it's that time of year where we try to guess the weather for the upcoming weeks, and the forecast is superb for the next week at least, so I decided to change over to summer tyres. Also, the car isn't a daily, so with this lockdown-type-life we have right now, it's 99.99% likely I will not need to drive through any snow, or indeed below 4ºC any time soon.
I am in the fortunate position of owning another whole set of wheels for the car, so rather than change tyres, I can actually change an entire set of wheels, myself.
My summer wheels are in fact a set of sportspack wheels.
I think they're a nice alternative for the dark winter wheels, which hide grime nicely, and I look forward to taking some better photos soon as I take the car out a little more over the coming weeks.
Special shoutout to Mr.Tremlini for some tips regarding jacking and the overall process. I used the jack pads linked to on this very forum.

I have to say, seeing those sports packs with the internals painted black, giving the diamond cut look, is possibly the best of both worlds, as it blends nicely with the existing chrome, but is sporty and works well with your carbon. Top marks, it looks mint!

Nice! Having both sets is cool, you can change up appearance every 6 months. Love those Sport Pack a little better though!
BTW, we might have someone we know in common, a gentleman who drives a DB7 GTA and lives in the Black Forest. He spotted your car around a couple times!
Oh nice! I have seen a DB7 GTA around here at least once before, I'm sure. Send me a PM/email? BTW, we might have someone we know in common, a gentleman who drives a DB7 GTA and lives in the Black Forest. He spotted your car around a couple times!

Thanks Dean. I really like the internal black as well. Completely black would have been too much. Even anthracite. The wheel is such a nice design, and it's all about the contrast. Having the faces in bright silver makes the whole wheel look so much larger. It's almost like the winters are 16" and the summers are 20" I have to say, seeing those sports packs with the internals painted black, giving the diamond cut look, is possibly the best of both worlds, as it blends nicely with the existing chrome, but is sporty and works well with your carbon.
