Following a minor hiccup with the DVLA, the wonderful folks at Bristol AM thought I should have something for the weekend while I await my V5C for the Vanq...

Had a great run out with some friends from Stratton Motors in darkest Norfolk! Dinner at the Bird in Hand (Wreningham) was spot on and the route to get there allowed some 'spirited' driving! (Especially following a red Italian on full chat!)

Somewhere around 10 Astons, 7 Loti, a lovely E-Type and our Italian friend! Curry and lashings of ginger beer - near enough a perfect evening - even Mrs 66 enjoyed herself!!

I cant afford the new one and its auto, its a very accomplished car, in the few laps I had I was impressed with the handling, acceleration & noise

I might be tempted in e few years when a manual one is a few years old and has done some if its depreciation

in the mean time I'll be looking for a V12V when the time is right

and I suspect when I'm done with that something more sedate like a Vanquish or a DB11

it isnt as pretty as the outgoing one but it does look good and have "presence"

I'd say go drive one whenever you get the chance - they look better in the metal than photos & colour is important

the inside wraps around you & yes there are a lot of buttons, but not a deal breaker (the manual will have fewer buttons)

Did some weight saving measures........

Drained 1/2 liter of water out of passenger foot well (Vantage Roadster), this is the foam underneath the carpet, can still see dark patch where saturated with water.
Unsure where its entering, any suggestions welcome. (No I didn't wash it with the roof down etc.) smile

Graze how do you find the overall service at the QLD Gold Coast dealership? Any good?

Alex

I can't fault them

I bought my V8V from aston Adelaide and they shipped it to Aston Qld who prepped and delivered it to me (no cost). Then when it needed service I dropped it in, with oils, filters and new brake pads in the boot and they happily fitted it all and did the service (was under $1000) which I thought was ok with the brakes changed out included.

sales made the time to take me out in a 2015 V12VS (they had traded )for a test drive even though they knew I wouldn't be able to buy one for a couple of years. They've always responded well to any questions etc

Service then happily sold me rotors knowing I was going to replace them and have even offered advice if I've needed it on any of the small things I've done on the car (like the correct way to re energise the car after a fully dead battery to ensure you don't get all the warning messages)

In terms of the prices they put on cars for resale I think they start high, but I'd buy from them because of their attitude if they had the right car - and I think Paul and James are decent guys based on what I've seen of how they treat people.

So 9/10 I guess

I had that on a daily driver. It was a clogged AC evaporator drain. Instead of draining outside under the car, it overflowed inside. Easy check is to see if water is dripping outside when running the AC for a while? If not, it might be the evap pan.

Thanks - good to hear your views. Yep, definitely plan to test drive one at some point... and indeed I expect when a manual arrives it will be epic. It’s good to see more AM models emerging - the 11 AMR looks good, but what I’m really excited by is the new DBS.

Do you see many AMs down under?

Well it was actually yesterday but I'll count it for today.

Very exciting and satisfying at the same time.

Dobie

there are a fair few but typically they dont get driven a huge amount

so you still get people looking at them and asking what they are

I suppose i see at least one a week in my travels around in Brisbane & Gold Coast

Thanks for the feedback Graeme. Much appreciated. I met Paul and Andrew recently and they were quite pleasant. Paul took time to explore the new Vantage with me and my wife. Glad to hear that you have confidence in their service department.

I'm in the process of shortlisting cars for my next purchase. Taking my time....wondering if the Govt. will reduce LCT next year????

I like the new Vantage too but I wouldn't buy a first year production model (for any car). Waiting for more detailed info on options (eg, sports exhaust & audio system). Also need to see what colour(s) suit it best.

Thanks I will check to see if they are draining properly.

I'm not looking forward to handing it back, I'm quite taken by it, but it makes me feel better about the wait for my car will soon be over (hopefully in a week or so).
