In the flesh, it looks very aggressive - in a good way. Although personally i didn't like the red colour at the reveal. AMG engine with software tweaked by AM & sat nav out of mercedes. Interior is superb. However, i don't feel my V8S is anywhere near inferior.

Back and sides look good to me. The front not so much. Is it just me or is there not a sniff of an MX5 in the bonnet and light line above the huge radiator mouth? It may look better with different spec/options around the front cavity and as others have mentioned above different coloured grills/lipstick.

Surprised they lost the trademark strake and that it isn't a dual clutch - also that slapped on iPad look remains and yet again I seriously disagree with the risky colour choice for a press car.

I think it has some seriously striking angles and a very cohesive design and so will be along to the dealer to see one in the flesh on the 30th and have a good long look at those headlamps and mouth. I hope to want to kiss it!

Not sold on the looks, it doesnt appear from the pictures to 'flow' in the same way as the Mk1. Obviously sure that the performance will be lightyears ahead but not sure i could look out onto the drive on a frosty morning with a coffee and fall in love all over again by looking at it.

I like it, particularly in the red from the Carfection video, but I'd prefer a black interior with red accents to that beige.

I'm sticking with the V12V for now and will wait to see whether they come out with manual and/or V12 versions.

Guys the Yellow is Green!!!!

Its called Lime Essence, it's one of the 6 pre set colour combos (called Adrenaline) available for the launch cars. Sure its very polarising, but the samples provided in the preview event made it look a lot better than some of these pics do. There are a few new colours in these packs all of which looked very nice.

Anyway - why don't you all have a play with the configurator and spec the colour you like the most! smile

Overall thoughts, based on the confidential more than the unveiling earlier:
The new side strakes, I'm glad there's an option to leave them body coloured - contrast colouring didn't really do it for me. The 'script' as it's called on the boot would be removed by the dealer.

The choice of unveiling colour, I'm not sure that's done the shape many favours - Cobalt Blue or a red similar to the confidential car would have showed the curves off a little better (not sure what colour it was, it wasn't Volcano Red). I hope everyone gets an opportunity to see the car in a better colour up close, it's a menacing bit of kit in the metal.

To address the elephant in the room; it's not as pretty as the outgoing Vantage - possibly the only car in recent years to be truly timeless as a design, it'll still look wonderful in 30 years time. The new car's a different animal though, and it felt a premium product - particularly the cabin, it was just a lovely place to be, and every single tactile feature, feels a notch above the usual. Even things like the interior door pulls, just lovely touches and everything's in the right place for a focused sports car IMO.

Replacing the Vantage was the toughest job the company's had, more so than the DB9 to DB11 - it's gone in a different direction to what some might want or hoped for (it might be overly aggressive for some), but I think it's just right. Perhaps the bonnet and headlights could use some more sculpture, but every other aspect nailed it for me.

I don't have a firmed up spec yet (colour choice being in limbo at the moment, along with the wheels perhaps), but it'd be great to hear what kind of spec and options other guys went for?

Take the badges off and is it instantly recognisable as an Aston? I know it is obviously a new model but even the DB11 (which doesnt float my boat design wise) is obviously an Aston.

Tend to agree with this.

I do wonder how many owners will go for the "ASTON MARTIN" badge delete option. I would.

Best of luck to AM, I hope it sells in spades.

Disappointed to be honest.

Not a flowing design at all - looked quite promising with the cover on it! The side strakes are horrible, not sure about the strange hike up before the rear wheel arch either and the line between the badge and the name (under the spoiler) is all wrong, in fact I don't think it should be there at all. No vents on the bonnet and I'm really struggling with the 'sad face' radiator grill?

On the positive side, love the rear splitter - but it cries out for 4 pipes! The interior looks really nice but why oh why the ipad. Roof line looks really good too.

But all in all I think my V8VR just went up in value! A much much nicer beast to look at imho.

Just pictures though - need to see it the flesh really and as I keep refering back to the pictures I'm warmimg to it a bit! confusedlaughwobble

The red car with gloss black trim looks incredible. The lime green one not so much.

I didn't really get the DB11 until I saw one 'in the flesh', and in the right colour. Now I'm starting to get used to the new design language... really modernises the look in a way that sticking more spoilers/vents/wings on the classic shapes couldn't.

Spent some more time in and around my BIL's DB11 this weekend, and the more time I spend, the more beautiful angles and shapes I find.

While I appreciate that AM wanted (needed) to make a big impression with the new Vantage I do feel that the overall look is very hard and aggressive. It's a long way from the classic proportions and flowing lines of the current car.

Maybe seeing it in different colours might help but I'm not sure I can see past the droopy mouth with it's pronounced lips and the featureless bonnet.

The interior looks like a nice place to be but I can't be doing with the iPad just stuck on the dash. It's a classic feature of modern Mercedes (amongst others) so obviously harks back to it's roots. I wish AM had put a bit more thought into integrating it more.

I suspect the new car will appeal to a whole lot of new buyers who may not previously have considered an Aston .. so will hopefully do well.

I think I'll hold on to my V8VR for a while yet though.

Not a surprise it's not recognisable considering they've ditched the iconic AM front grille and replaced it with a massive piece of mesh! From the front almost a third of the car is black mesh, which just seems wrong on a + £100k, premium car.

It looks just like the leaked patent drawing, so no real surprises. After all the positive comments from people who'd had a preview, I was hoping for more to be honest. But the front end is awful (grille, bonnet shape, lack of vents and headlights), rear end also pretty dire thanks to the huge diffuser dominating. Bits in between are not so bad, but too close to the DB10 to pretend to be anything other than an evolution on this.

Interior seems to better thought out than the exterior, but if the outside isn't appealing then it's rather pointless.

Glad I have an 'old style' Vantage tucked away, as the new model does nothing for me.

the center console button fest is already dated .. there's no elegance or flow to it; just a riot of plastic buttons.

the front looks like poor copy of the new MX-5, with a face with a huge mouth and no chin. Yuk!

Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh when I go up to Bristol on the 30th.

Not sure about the front but absolutely love the back and side. Think it will also be colour dependent and really like the Car in the Henry Catchpole clips.

Overall think they have done a great job and even quite like the interior - wonder how long until the Roadster appears with a bit more power??
