I see like most Aston purchases negotiating a set of front mats into the deal is just not possible
Looks great Bob. I too would very much like to come along to Snetterton when the date is set.
Peter, taken some negotiating but a deal was finally done, some nice period plywood mats.Looks great Bob. I too would very much like to come along to Snetterton when the date is set.

LBS and I love your appreciation of detail too. The gloves you refer to on the passenger seat are leather flying gloves.
However I wore these gloves for the Goodwood photo shoot: The helmet is an Everoak Les Leston repro (made by the son of the original manufacturer) which Sir Stirling kindly signed for me. The goggles an original pair of late 50/60's Climax, the driving gloves are modern but I love the colour and they're string backed.

Did you plans change Bob - or have I just got confused? Fantastic effort by the way, well done
Ian thank you. Plans, err,,, things kind of evolve as we go along really. The next dilema to be faced is do we go with this engine as it is now running on original Italian webers normally aspirated and points ignition, or, back on the EFI - electronic ignition Emerald system that the previous engine ran on. silverspeed said:
Hi Bob - is the engine at A.E. ? You did well to find the DB4 engine ! What happened to the DBS engine or is that still in the car ? It’s been a fantastic journey for you . When do we get to see the car - AMOC Englefield House ?
Graham hi, A.E. yes. The DBS engine we delivered to AE in hopes it would convert, turns out the block had cracks between 2 cylinders that although possibly repairable, AE wouldn't warranty the work. So we opted for a new block, crank, pistons and rods @ 4.7 ltr with a new DB4GT head. Doubtful the engine will be back in the car in less than a month, Andrew (ASM) is flat out busy.
Praise indeed from so illustrious and highly respected forum contributors - gentlemen all, my sincere gratitude. I am delighted that not only have I enjoyed encouragement throughout the painstaking 3/4 year build but also what is apparent that so many readers have enjoyed the process too.
I can confirm, that as you might imagine, flipping down the safety cap and hitting that engine start button delivers a frisson of utter delight every time!

Simon, thank you for your kind words and the help you willingly gave the MO55IE project a few months ago. However, so very unfair of you to exploit my devotion for anything associated around DBR1-ness ,,,, I'll be there,,,!!
My real worry is that David King will announce a continuation DBR1,,,, only because it will kill me to death being way beyond my budget.

H/man, Rich, thank you both.
LBS, for the DBR1 artwork my thanks again go to both Simon Lane and Q. They kindly gave their permission for me to use the DBR1 Silhouette (as will appear on the forward facing side of the DBS '59 airblade). The period David Brown wing badge we created ourselves using an original as our pattern.
PS: Mrs MO55 might not be too impressed if I dare mention a respray of her beloved MEGA DEF,,,,

Did I see you driving up the M11 this morning or was I dreaming?
Not I Quarterly, not I.If the forecast had been for a dry day today then MO55IE would have been over at Bressingham attending the ASM Open day. In all probability the car you saw was an owner of another of Andrews superb creations braving the weather on his way to attend the Open day. I satisfied myself this afternoon by applying a touch up of copper paint to a couple of dashboard switches.
