lightweight carbon seat
Discussion
By coincidence I tried the LWS in a V12V 2010 and with the manual I found no it tricky to get the angle right and not affect pressing the clutch.
Is it just me? I thought the seat itself great for comfort bit not sure I could live with it. Big shame as it was carbon black edition and otherwise perfect

Are these seats available from the likes of Recaro or similar
AFAIK, no. They have unusually low sides for bucket seats. I spent quite a while looking last year. The closest I found were the seats from an M3 CSL - but they're hugely expensive too !Corbeau NFX might be worth a try, but they're not carbon. Tillett carbon seats with custom trim ?

Have a look at the Cobra Nogaro --> they have low sides as well and come with customizing options....Corbeau NFX might be worth a try, but they're not carbon. Tillett carbon seats with custom trim ?

Hope I can help ( or maybe not..). I have asked previously for a quote to change (had a 2014 SShift V12VS with standard seats) and have the dealer email in front of me from mid 2016: £19,350 incl VAT fitted for the pair.. this with Contemporary Leather contrast...OUCH!😳 Luckily for AML, this one continued to eat away at me...and so eventually ended up with a V12VSM with LWSs..👍

The pic is of the seats in MarkV8Vs Vantage - l understand they were trimmed to match the existing interior in his car and he's had them for a few years now.
...the world is small...I think they look great and are tastefully matching the interieur, is there a chance to get more pictures?
Thomas
They are indeed my seats which I had for about 2 years in my previous Vantage which was a manual, they completely changed my driving enjoyment as I never got on with the standard seats.
Having changed my car last year for another Vantage but Sportshift I ordered another pair but in Carbon rather than GRP again trimmed in Aston quality leather and stitching to my design.
Just to be clear they are fixed back and you have to use manual adjustment subframes as they are wider than the Aston which I found too tight.
My original seats are available for sale if anyone is interested and has an Iron Ore interior.
Mark at Cobra is a really great guy and is a true Petrolhead 👍👍👍👍

How are the Cobra Nogaro's to get in/out?
They look quite low on the picture, so I guess the mechanical runners reduce some height.
Do you maybe have some more pictures?
I had a Cobra Imola once which was quite comfortable to drive, but having the high sideline made it more difficult to get in/out.

Hi
The seats are easy to get out of as the sides were designed to be lower than a full race bucket seat as there is no requirement for 6 point harnesses.
I really like the fact you can sit lower than the standard seats however the seats are on adjustable side mounts so you can set the height and rake to suit your preference when you fit them.
As this is my car I like the fact that the seat is set up for me although you can move the seat forward and back easily if you need to.
If anyone is interested best give Mark at Cobra seats a call directly or have a look on their website.

Mark,
thanks for the insights.
After seeing the pricing of the seats, I believe this is one of the best aftermarket alternatives.

For information, to match leather you can contact Bridge of Weir, suppliers to Aston Martin. (app. £400 per hide and 4.5 sq metres)
You can also get Alcantara colour from Aston martin dealer by simply providing VIN number (And then purchasing from online supplier)

They're not a very big bucket though. I desperately wanted a set for my SLS however they were proper buckets but only 5k each
Not sure why Aston tax is so high
Not unless something has changed. I tried sourcing the shells from Recaro since the CF seats aren't available at all here in the US. Recaro's rep flat-out said it'd be impossible for me to get them. They're not a very big bucket though. I desperately wanted a set for my SLS however they were proper buckets but only 5k each

Essentially, the shells are made specifically for Aston Martin. Since they're made specifically for AML, only AML can sell them (it'd be like buying a iPhone direct from Foxconn because you don't want to pay a premium to Apple).
As for replacement options, there are some very practical considerations. The low-rise thigh bolsters allow for standard seat belts to work with the seats. If you compare the lower bolstering where the lap belt is, you'll see it's very low compared to any other single-piece seat made by Recaro. Other seats offered, like those in the 911 GT3RS, have enlarged holes contoured to allow the standard seat belts to work with the seats. You also have to worry about mounting hardware, airbag warnings, leatherwork, etc, not to mention the various safety concerns.

I'm about to get this project restarted (had to put it on the backburner due to other, higher priorities) but it should be finished in the next month or two.

Do you mean the original Iron Ore seats or the previous Cobra GRP ones ? I'd be interested in the cobra GRP ones, if thats what you mean.....Having changed my car last year for another Vantage but Sportshift I ordered another pair but in Carbon rather than GRP again trimmed in Aston quality leather and stitching to my design.

that will come just in time for a 2-year anniversary...I know exactly how that goes - took me also several years and ~3 iterations to get the seat adapters on my E30M3 right.
