I had my wheels sent out and refinished after 10 years of use. The graphite chrome (PVD process) was what I had specced new and it had held up pretty well. So while up on jack stands I did my 4 year routine plus some odds & ends like the door struts. On the battery tender for about a month, all put back together and some break-in day trips and then off to the Greenbriar Resort Concours in West Virginia. Beautiful state and another fine show at the venue.
Chatted with a few Aston owners and lusted over the Morgan.

Replacing the battery, 2016 V12VS. That's a helluva job. Simple, but fiddly as all hell.

Kettle on for another mug of go-go juice and then to get the new one strapped in and the trim back.

edit: the later 'non-Merc' Vantages used a battery around 20mm shorter than the earlier ones, I just discovered. The top strap, therefore, won't fit the battery size that every single supplier recommends. Back to Eurocarparts.

Changed a 15a fuse as the front 12v had gone. Blown by the provided Aston Martin electric tyre compressor….

Also the fuse diagram lists the fuses in the incorrect order for the luggage compartment box.

Should be:
- 12v front
- 12v rear
- 12v luggage

Mine was:
- 12v rear
- 12v front
- 12v luggage

Or my fuse box is wrong haha wouldn’t surprise me!

Took a run out to The Hill at Caffeine&Machine (Ettington, nr Stratford) for a Sunday morning coffee and to pick up a newspaper en route. You may have noted that this is a recurring theme of mine, as it's a really nice run down though the start of the Cotswolds. Takes about 40 minutes for me, decent coffee, look at some cars, chat to a few people, then back home in time for lunch.

Glorious weather, place was fairly crowded with some interesting cars. Pride of place had to be the 50's DeSoto, but there was a nice Beetle, an MX5 wearing a kit body painted in Gulf racing livery, a really nicely restored "classic" Mini Cooper S, a Ferrari F355 Spider, the usual 911's, 2-, 3- and 4-Series 'M' BMWs, Hyundai N-cars, etc. etc. And my lone Aston, keeping cool under the trees and in need of a wash.

Couple of runs of what’s left on old Spa circuit and a drive home including getting lost in Roubaix before back to Belgium for shopping and then Calais and home.

Have had my wireless CarPlay for a days. It works really well. The screen is great quality, those dour Merc graphics likely lead people to believe otherwise. In this new version they have changed the audio to use Bluetooth instead of auxiliary. Sounds good. CarPlay itself uses WiFi.

Also finally got to wash the filthy car in readiness for this Sunday’s AMOC drive day after we had English weather for 10 days. Hopefully I haven’t done another rain dance.

Nice, gold calipers? What is the car colour? Weather is so up and down at the moment, great to enjoy the good days!

A diverse mix, looks like an enjoyable outing.

Assume you were there for the 8 hour race..? Is it not a fantastic track, tucked away in the forest!

Yes the 8hr long 6hr race.

Fantastic track for walking around and viewing from grandstands or natural banking plus loads of cooler wooded areas just off circuit path.

Kemmel straight and viewing from bank was fantastic

Do love the Lucien Bianchi video from 1962

Just dropped it at AM Nottingham for its annual service and MOT.

There was a stunning V12V in the carpark, in a dark metallic 'orange'. Not sure what the specific colour was, but possibly cinnabar orange or madagascar orange? Mentioned I'd never seen one in that colour and was told it was a 1 of 1 in that paint. Very late V12V apparently.

Very similar but it had black trim round the windows and a mesh rad grill - possibly different wheels too.

But I guess that could all have been added by the current owner.

A very Aston weekend for me this weekend. Today was an Aston Sydney cars and coffee workshop day where you get to wander around and chat the techs. Very nice food too. Winter has arrived early with a freezing 14 degrees. A good day to take the AMR. Tomorrow is an AMOC drive day and it is supposed to be sunny.

Arriving:

I hope it wasn't mine as it's supposed to be locked up in storage at the moment. Apologies for the gratuitous photo but I couldn't resist:
