I'm looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning and hopefully we'll be either lucky and / or strong enough of will to withstand any potential rain... wink

I sent everyone who registered through Eventbrite a message earlier today. If anyone here needs more info or didn't receive the message please PM me.

Cheers, Nij smile

Despite the fact that the rain had been hissing down and I was freezing my boll%ks off standing outside Grange it was very pleasant to meet old acquaintances and some new faces.
On arrival I was delighted to see Tony Hall ,always a pleasure to meet the master of erudition and conviviality.
I was then approached by a new face, attired elegantly in jacket and waistcoat,in a subtle shade of bright red,who else but El Toro,he must have forgotten to bring his cape as it was not in evidence,a vey nice chap, notwithstanding that he lives in Essex.
Said hello to Mark who had come in Shmee's beast of a Ferrari.
Steve was there with his better half and we had a chat about his tribulations trying to buy a DB9.
Then there was Muj,aka Slarti, and Tall Dave, who is lovely but insists on wearing his hair in long girly curls,he had his lovely wife in tow,she had long hair too but it suited her.
I was delighted to meet Lady Rowley a charming young owner of an AM who had recently won 3rd prize in a AM competition, can't remember exactly for what but guess it may have been for best make up or longest finger nails.
I would say that she had balls for turning up at a predominantly all male event...but of course she doesn't ....(have balls).
Exchanged pleasantries with Nij but couldn't see his wife....was she there ?
There was a mature geezer about 6 foot tall, who I got chatting to,he was driving a,literally, stunning Orange Lambo but also had 2 or 3 McLaren's knocking about,as you do,
Can't remember his name but it may have rhymed with Wonga.
I ended up chatting to a group of Mcclaren owners ,a nice bunch of fellows albeit with no taste in cars.
Thanks Nij for organising the event.

I had an interesting time, chatting to white van men who were also stuck in stationary traffic for 3 hours on the Kent side of the Dartford crossing. I'm sure those who made it had a slightly more entertaining time. For some reason the white van chaps thought it was exceedingly funny that they were stuck behind an Aston Martin. Oh the joys of British (or SE English) motoring....I gave up at around 1:30 and managed to join a very slow exodus turning round at J2. Nijius, I just realised my phone thinks you are "Nikita" - maybe that's why Mrs Maximus wan't to be seen by avilalarf? Anyway, sorry I missed it, everyone. The good news was I didn't have to enter Essex, I guess. Nijius, can the next one be south of the Thames please?

Philip0,

Your journey sounded absolutely horrendous. I did get a traffic bulletin on the way to say there were problems with roads.

Hopefully in the not too distant future, we'll be doing a Sunday Run on the CORRECT side of the river to appease us Sauf Lunden folk biggrin

Counting myself lucky as I left plenty of time coming up from deepest Kent and must have just missed the Dartford jam. Looked horrendous as I passed the queue on my way back south of the bridge.
Well worth braving the rain and getting my car wet (deep breath) to meet such a jolly group of chaps and Mrs Toro with her sunshine roadster - much better than grey on a dim October day.
Thanks for the organisation Nij and sorry that family duties dragged me away early.
How about somewhere like The Grasshopper in Westerham for a Southern meeting? Haven't been there for years but they've got lots of car parking and have hosted car meets in the past.

Nij ......do not be swayed by these rural country types or ......worst still.....urban Southerners.
S of T is not a place that any self respecting Astoneer would go by choice.
Take no heed of their siren calls.
Truth be told,my wife,to be, lived S of T .....a God forsaken scrubland known as Clapham....fortunately for her ,we met and I swept her off to the sunny pastures of north London, where civilised people live.

Great day, started off raining Datsun Gogs but by the time we hit Kings X had slowed to a drizzle usual peeps in attendance. We ventured out to the Badlands of Essex , to be greeted by familiar faces so shaping up to be a bit reem.Avin didn't look in pain sod I assume that he had declined on the BSC jobby. Lots of chin wagging going on and Mrs SJ was happy as there other ladies to natter wiv which pleased me as she weren't chewing my bits. On entering the car park crikey they've cloned me Reg plate there is a n other SJJ. Heading out to the Gulf club for lunch we split into different group an go every which way you can, and sum fing secret appeared. There was a fair few quids worth of motors in that car park and then the drone went up.Settling down for a cracking roast I discover that my twin the other SJJ is El Toro's significant other. Really enjoyed the day so thanks Nij for organising roll on the next one. We survived going east and the motor still has all 4 wheels. It is rumoured we are going sarf of the river next time so lets do it cos these days really are good fun and we have met some great folks. Thanks Nij

Shame I couldn't make this one, sounds like you had a great time!

Had a thought- there is the Classic Car & Sports Car show at Alexandra Palace on the weekend of the 28th that I'll be going to. If anyone else is interested,we could go for a bit of a drive on the Saturday morning and then head to the show?

Thanks for organising Nij.
Good variety of cars and characters, bit worried about the ideas Mrs Nij has for the reduction in your fleet when you move home.

Hope you come up with some good man maths to stop it happening.
