CERBMAN
Having quickly scanned through this post, I am at a loss to understand why you viewing and posting on the Aston Martin forum!
Clearly having owned a number of Rovers and then moved onto Jaguar, obviously you are not at all image concious or have the financial resources to own an Aston.
Not wishing to sound elitist may I suggest that your time and views would be better utilised on the Rover/Jaguar forum!!
Also the name Cerbman, it that an aspiring TVR owner?

I like Astons. Had nearly 100 cars including the cars mentioned. Cerbman = former Cerbera fanHaving quickly scanned through this post, I am at a loss to understand why you viewing and posting on the Aston Martin forum!

How is an Aston is another league? pricewise? They're certainly more expensive, but if you're trying to say they're better, pull the other one.
Cerbman, I don't get why half of your posts are anti AM despite never owning one. Ownership of a 4.0ltr XK8 was a major disappointment. It never sounded like a proper V8; caused in part by the awful transmission. Looking for a daily drive, Jaguar almost tempted me back with the XF until the finished model was finally unveiled.....light years away from the fabulous looking design of the XF concept car...
Seems that fate was on my side with my final decision as the XF, in a top 10 of least reliable cars for 2010, came 3rd

The XKR really impressed me as Cerbman says. For my money I think I'd take it over the Vantage. The sheer go it has is very addictive. However I'd like to drive a 4.7 Vantage with a manual box just to make sure... Hats off to Aston though for at least allowing drivers the option of a manual. I doubt there will ever be another manual jag sportscar, which is a shame, for me anyway. I do take the point that the Aston is handcrafted compared to the more mass produced jaguar. The instruments in particular are gorgeous in the Aston and unremarkable in the jag. But these days handcrafted is not usually considered a plus point, such is the quality and precision of mass manufacture done well. The jag certainly feels solidly built and utterly squeak free.
Sorry to sit on the fence on this one (I'm not known do that often!) and the jaguar/ aston rivalry is eternal and I love it - long may it continue! - but I salute owners of either marque and I'd be proud to see either car poking out of my garage. Something I hope to do when I return to the UK. To current owners, I salute you. You've helped make the roads a far more interesting place to travel, something you wouldn't have done if you'd just bought another 911 like everyone else!

I've made a few comments about Astons mostly accurate and not meant to offend, yet I've had all this. Come over to the Jaguar forum sometime and learn how to respond to comments made in good faith.

Cerbman, you've come onto an Aston Martin forum and made the above comment. At best you are naive not to expect a reaction. Most owners on here I would guess are passionate about the cars they drive. That aside, you've spent the last 6 years, at least, trying to wind up AM owners. The fact that you're surprised with the reaction says it all.As a sidenote, buy an Aston......requests on websites for 'sexy women for fun times' becomes unnecessary

not trying to be rude for the sake of it Cerbman but looking at all your past cars and your present Jag they are worth about the same as I pay for a good bottle of wine......so I dont think Aston Martin ownership will be a problem you have to worry about...."showing off" in an Aston will never be a joy that you will understand or experience.....o that feels better smile

Congratulations Sir on the post of the week!
To Cerbman give it a rest, there was lots of reasoned arguments to the OP's question, but at least Aston owners on this forum have actually gone out test driven and then bought the car, rather than just sitting at home reading magazines.

That was years ago, old news, didn't have the Jag then. Since owning the Jag no such problems, thanks, certainly don't need or want an Aston, I mean look what it turns you into.....
