I’m reserving judgement on DBX until I see it without the camo. But my first thought is that it looks too small for a family of 5
Thats a good point I hadn’t considered. When we went for an XC90 the primary aim was being able to fit 3 child seats across the rear seats (we only have 2 kids but her indoors insisted that we ‘needed’ the option). Its a surprise how many vehicles cant achieve this which can be a dealbreaker if circumstances require.V8LM said:

There is absolutely no rational argument for driving an SUV other than potentially ground clearance but then that has drawbacks in terms of fuel economy and handling, and the fact that you have more mass in a crash.
(1) Easier access (un/)loading little kids / grandparents in or out of them?Getting in to an SUV is normally the easier part, but many people in old age unfortunately suffer from knee joint pain. In those circumstances, having to jump down from an SUV can be most unpleasant.

If you remember the roads in Ealing, they’re quite often double parked
Oh yes, like the back of my hand! My brother still lives there. I know what you mean about the double parking, once I had to park in the next roa to my brother's house and walk back! I guess we're all different; that's why he's still there and I live in Hampshire but I digress... soofsayer said:

Remember the DBX pricing category may be 3 or 4 times that of an XC90.
Charlotte does not have any children, might not even have a boyfriend, because she spends her time checking her LinkedIn profile, and progressing her career.
Not sure about her choice of mac though. Is that really Burberry, or is it perhaps by a very exclusive couturier?
Looks a bit worn around the bottom.
She is:
In her late 30s.
Dissatisfied with her SUV.
Professional.
The sort of person who shops at Burberry and Rolex.
More likely to look at her LinkedIn profile than Facebook.

Rob,
Do you consider the Bentayga adequate for a family of 5?
It’s probably no good for me. We do a big European Roadtrip each Summer and the kids need to be out of punching range of each other (they’re not bad, but on a long journey their elbows get sharper). Hence the third row of seats in the Discovery is essential. One in that, nice gap in the middle row between the other 2Do you consider the Bentayga adequate for a family of 5?

My point being, for exactly those reasons, Bentayga is of no use to me but plenty of peeps buy them.
Hopefully many will do the same with DBX.
I'll say no more

Ok Rich, you just won the pools (so don't worry about spares, mpg or residuals) which one do you want? The sexy 'glued to the ground' fab handling Estate:Or the tall brick ugly old fashioned 4 x 4:
Ohh OK for balance here's a slightly more recent Volvo (I think they changed the shocks and headlamps?) :

Yeah Dewi, but there`s estates and then there`s estates! My 320PS/650NM Allroad does not really compare to a Peugeot 407, like your Macan is a few steps above a Nissan Qashqai, I`d wager. I can also switch my air suspension mode and ride over curbs too.
I would think you`d struggle to find an SUV that can live with an RS6 Avant, (top of the tree I know) and that will also have superior load capacity to most upper-echelon SUV`s.
It`s all horses for courses, personally I`d rather have the dynamics of a car than a 4x4 when 99% of my driving is on road, but I understand, as a Rapide driver, how you`re more comfortable in something of heft and girth...
Dean! You, me, Macan and Allroad + Eiger - will give you a 5 min head start; its a bloody hoony animal this one, err I mean sensible DD/ family/dog/sideboard carrying car I would think you`d struggle to find an SUV that can live with an RS6 Avant, (top of the tree I know) and that will also have superior load capacity to most upper-echelon SUV`s.

You know I parked the Macan next to a new Mini Clubman Estate yesterday - it was barely taller than it in its 'CH Eiger challenge' ride height mode (;)) . And the Stelvio is a notch hotter with superb dynamics again - perfect if you cant get the Red Setter in a Guilia:
Macan on air sus just rides, drives, handles, feedbacks and dynamically feels FAR better than both my 535d's - just does, which is why I'm sticking up for it so much!
Lets just agree to hate the X6 maybe mate - off the side of the Eiger for that one

So AP said today that they had run 2 customer clinics in their two biggest markets (US and China/Asia).
64% of US clients said they wanted to buy one (at the likely US price point)
68% in the Chinese equivalent
I know you should never trust focus groups etc (or Internet forums for that matter!). But those sound pretty encouraging numbers
