Don't forget your EHIC card, European Insurance, Breathalysers for France, HiVis etc...
Ooooh.....now I'm in a holiday mood......might go and book a couple of flights...

Take some good insurance, European breakdown cover (make sure all the countries you drive through are in the small print...) and some cast iron underwear - or big balls. I'm not overly-precious about my motor, but the narrow lakeside roads, poor surfaces and seemingly blind oncoming drivers with no apparent concept of 'right of way' are all a bit alarming!!!

La Darsena is where I stayed in Tremezzo, stunning location and rooms. The restaurant is a must
Pah, we stay here http://www.grandhoteltremezzo.com/We did eat at La Darsena though, only a short prosecco-fuelled stroll away

Suggestions for a great driving route please?
You could always join 30 other Astons on the tour I'm doing in May; Strasbourg, Schlumphf Museum, Grimsel Pass, Furka Pass, St. Gothard Pass, Lake Como, Lake Guarda, Zagato factory, Monza track run Mille Miglia museum and return to Reims with a few dinners thrown in for good measure RichB said:

It's the AMOC Centenary European Tour, details on www.amoc.org
Watch out for steep ramps into hotel underground car parks. The angle at the bottom of the ramp next to where I stayed by Lake Como was too steep to allow my V8V in. The Italian manager chided me and said they had plenty of Ferraris parking there, and they were significantly lower... I asked them how they achieved that. "They reverse in", said the manager. "I'm English and this is an Aston Martin", I replied, "I drive forwards."
(he was right though - reversing in was the only option.)

I possibly suggest moto railing down for part of the journey if her majesty is recovering.

There are some very good train routes (the one along the rhine is stuning) it'll give a bit of space for her and all the more opportunity to blast around the alps on arrival!
