Admiral Multi Car
Discussion
yup currently with them - first time & it will be the last.
Truly horrible people to deal with, screw you for £25 just to have a loan car covered during services.
Tried the multi car option (before I discovered what they were really like) - with multi-car, the premium for the two cars exceeded both quoted separately

I seriously considered Admiral for the Aston (my other cars are covered with them) but whilst they would say verbally that I could take my Aston to an Aston approved paintshop they would not confirm it in writing. Just kept on passing me to someone more senior who said the same thing - it would be alright on the night! If that is the case why can't you confirm in writing - just for clarity - not there policy to do so but it would be alright.
That concerned me and I stayed with Locktons - although it costs me more. Whenever I have asked them for something always sorted very efficiently.

I've heard other people having problems with Admiral Multi-car policies. This is copied from another forum (NB I don't have an Admiral policy):
Someone else said:
Admiral insurance have actually pretty good and helpful, don't get me wrong, however I'm currently having an absolute nightmare with my car insurance.
Two years ago, my girlfriend (who at the time had an "Admiral multi-car" policy with me) had two non-fault accidents within a short period of each other. Both were winter-condition related and it wasn't the best few months. However, it seems that when the claims went through, the insurance database was updated... in my name! I was the main Admiral policy holder so even though I wasn't even in the car at the time of the accidents, and it was nothing to do with me, I'm now expected to declare that these two accidents were non-fault claims of my own... not my girlfriend!
Please note, it's not a "named driver issue", its a "Multi car policy" and that's why admiral have admitted there shouldn't have been an issue. The Multi car policy listed two separate cars. Mine registered in my name and my girlfriend's listed in her name. However, the Multi car policy puts both cars under one policy. The issue arose for the reasons of data protection... They need one main policy holder so they can speak to that person about the policy details.
Therefore, I was classed as the main policy holder, however the accidents happened to my girlfriend in her car but the insurance database saw it as myself.
Admiral are now saying that they've updated the insurance database to show my girlfriend's name, and not my own, however this can take quite a few days to update. Not ideal when you need to renew!!
You can't speak to the Insurance Database directly it seems, unless you wait up to 5 working days for a return call. AXA, the insurance company I want to buy a policy (£3-400 cheaper than the renewal of Admiral) with aren't interested in the situation, even though Admiral have corresponded with them to say the accidents were not my fault.
After 4 days and many, many phone calls, the insurance companies will do anything to hinder rather than help. I'm literally pulling my hair out with despair at the stupidity and unwillingness of AXA at the very least... They're who I'm trying to get insured with as their price is good.
I've just spoken to the insurance ombudsman who said the complaint process can take up to 8 weeks... Not exactly ideal but I've complained nonetheless as it may help with recourse for the future.

My experience of them is quite good......well it would be I hear some of you saying!
I have 3 of my cars with them under a multi car policy. One (the DBS) is under my name, one under my wife's and one under one of my sons.
They are definitely cheaper than having the cars separately, in fact as one of them is classed as a pocket rocket and my 20 and 21 year old sons are on it, they were by far the cheapest and in effect the only ones that would insure them.
I haven't claimed on them so that may very well be a different story if I had to make a claim.
All the policies are individual so nothing will impact on other policy holders I am informed.
All in all, I would recommend them based on my experience.
I also have multi car with AVIVA who are also very good albeit they were more expensive than Admiral.
A happy bunny to date I have to say.

Yup, no problems, no intention of ever claiming (fingers crossed).
At renewal point always go on the search engines and get quotes separately as you will find them cheaper than the renewal quote - they basically test your apathy / laziness - and they then match the lower quotes, plus a bit more discount for inconveniencing you.
Policies are separate with separate NCDs under a multi car umbrella.
Unless your name is Sukh and you cock up the quotation process

Interesting.
Have 3 points due off in September, and 6 points back in 09 that are off but still within 5 years.
10 years NCB on Aston
Quoted:
£1300 for Aston (was paying £1800 First Point)Tracker
£1300 for RS4( Due so not insured yet)No Tracker
£400 for A3 2.0 TDI ( was paying £730 from More Than)No Tracker
Few issues, no agreed value if written off, and won't agree to allow repair at marque approved workshop.
Heard good and bad reviews as expected...decisons...

Ah the insurance question again!
I'm onto my third year running with Admiral Multicar, three cars on it at the moment, the V8 a Boxster PDK and a Z4. They have consistently been the cheapest, but you do have to go through the negotiation at renewal - I do wonder why insurance companies don't offer loyalty discounts, I suppose they hope people don't churn.
Never used them to claim, but I was a passenger in a car that was hit in the rear by a car insured through admiral. They were no bother at all in repairing the car or in the personal injury claims that followed.
I see direct line are now offering multi car insurance too, I'll give them a go next renewal.
