I like seeing Jag XK owners!
Discussion
Makes my day when I see a jag xk owner climbing in to their vehicle, dropping the windows, putting the shades on, turning up the tunes, and then pull away and BOOOM! There's an Aston in yer face!
(Got nothing against XKs, they're good motors!)
But most that I see, that see my Aston tend to look rather disappointed...
I love my Aston

It's probably true - I bought my supercharged XKR because Astons were out of reach at the time
Guy at work has a lovely 4.2 new shape one... He's desperate for a ride in mine next week in Dorset aftrr they were lined up side by side at the hotel last week.
Sometimes you should just buy what you really want, not what you can actually afford... You save money long term

Sorry if I don't join the majority - if the right XKR came along I would swap my Vantage tomorrow
Sure, it's not as "exclusive", but it's better built, more reliable, faster off the mark, more spacious and more economical.
10 months of Aston ownership has been pretty underwhelming - it has been off the road in total for over one of these months due to a combination of crap design, bad materials, poor build quality, dreadful preparation and a QC function run by Stevie Wonder
Astons are indeed relatively uncommon (then so again is herpes) but I choose my cars to drive as opposed to relative narcissist score :-)

I presume you've never owned a TVR? Terminator said:

Indeed I have - Cerbera 4.5 (for about 5 months - couldn't be bothered baling out the water every time it rained)In many respects, it is the closest parallel to the Vantage - looked great, sounded fantastic (had the performance to match though) but poor build quality

I presume you've never owned a TVR? The TVR was faultless, my Astons have had niggles. This,I see as part and parcel of Aston Martin ownership. Its reality, ask anybody that owns one if he/she expects to have a faultless car. Its what gives the cars a little individual character all of their own. It also gives me a challenge to get the car into perfect shape during the first couple of months of ownership.
If you want a characterless car I have a fleet of around 20 BMW`s and Mercedes which will go on forever without missing a beat, but when they are handed back to the dealers I did not get a tear in my eye like I did when I got rid of my TVR and my old Aston.(Both my Son and I actually shed a tear as the TVR was driven away)
Granted Astons may be £125k cars, but let`s face it most of us on here can afford it and the bills associated with them.........he waits with baited breath for the tirade of abuse.
And I do agree with the statement of XK drivers as lovely people but just could`nt quite afford to stretch to an Aston....controversial
Have a great sunny Bank holiday weekend and tops down, bald heads out for those with Volantes...bet you wished you had one.
My friends elder brother has an XKRS - a very good motor by most accounts. Every time he met me (and when I had a DB9V), he felt the need to keep telling me how much BHP his car had and just how quick it was. I didn't need to say a thing. I let the aura created by my AM do the talking :-)
