OK, I give up. Having spent a wonderful hour removing trim panels from the boot front bulkhead of my 2006 DB9, and then the stowage box itself (twelve screws) I find I still I still cannot access the high intensity light unit mounted on the parcel shelf. Why should I need to, you may ask - well I have a collection of dead ladybirds (not the cause of the current 7 spot shortage), now somewhat faded, in there....

Grateful for any pointers - or even thoughts on their extraction...

Do you mean the high level brake light inside the glass above the boot on a coupe?

If so, that can only be accessed from the interior. Remove rear seat bottoms (velcro), rear seat backs (bolts), rear console slope (clips) & subwoofer cover (screws). Then remove screws & pull the centre piece (with the light) toward you a bit. If you want to pull it all the way out you have to unclip the brake light wiring harness.

Edit: Found a link with photos

Yep! And very many thanks. Instructions and photos look very clear - will look again over the weekend - by the look they have been there a few years - sadly they have not survived.
Aston build quality is something to behold - at least two of the screws holding the stowage box were loose - I also have a strange knocking from from passenger side parcel shelf area, so potentially two 'birds with one stone. smile

All fixed, came apart as indicated. For info it is the same sub woofer for the 950 Linn system - round hole at top of parcel shelf unused...
