Thinking about getting the windows tinted on my AM V8. Nothing too dark just a medium tint on the boot glass and a light tint at the sides - yes I know it will be illegal but the front will only be marginally darker than allowed.

Any decent tinting company will refuse to do the door windows....

I had the rear hatch done, and a light tint on the small side glass.... All legal...smile

Paid £90 quid

The company who will do it are very good and do a lot of work for the big garages such as BMW, Mercedes and the owner is a personal friend. Can you tell me if the back window is a medium tint?

The back is about 40% and the sides are 50%.... But don't forget, it's being applied to already tinted glass...

If you do go the illegal route, you could have issued with insurance in the event of a claim......

It's possible to tint and stay within the law, I wouldn't recommend going beyond that for insurance and pragmatic vision reasons. Luna's car looks great and all above board. You already look cool in an AM - whats the point if no one can see it's you in it? wink

"Yes I know it is illegal officer, but I only marginally murdered him." wink

Irrespective of the legalities, I think it is motorcyclists who want to be able to observe that drivers have seen them.

There are some keen riders on this forum. Perhaps they will give opinions.

to me a darker green tint looks better than black /grey . worth thinking about , has the bonus of looking more factory

One is in La Manga with the Pit Babe, Bins.....certainly a long way off from the Horseshoe Pass matey yes

Question....what's the point of tinted Windows when it's always cloudy? Having met Luna though I can certainly see another use for them smile

The chap that fitted mine was very specific with his advice.....he pretty much said, jet black would look crap,... He also said that the factory glass was already at the legal limit, and he refused outright to put any illegal tints on.....smile

I'm glad I listened to himyes

This is my view out of the rear window..AFTER the tint

I still get a clear view, but the car is cooler inside, and it definitely cuts down glare at night from headlights on cars behind

I have had all the side and rear glass tinted on all of my recent cars but I dont think it suits an Aston.

Cant describe why, but it just doesn't look right.

And dark rear side glass and standard front side looks worse, legal, but looks like a halfarsed job.

I agree, and it's a bit like joining the Range Rover Sport Set hehe

cuts down heat?? the only heat i feel in my DB9 radiates up from the floor from the CATS....

in Australia had all my cars tinted darkly - really did cut down on the heat in summer (regular 35-40 degree days); UK barely gets high 20s... also UK doens't have anywhere near the UV of Oz... where all dashboards crack from the UV damage... unheard of here.

problem with very dark tints is it reduces vision at night, as there is more light outside the car than inside- making for a "mirror" effect- hence see out less. However a 30% tint all round is workable...

Ive had all my cars windows tinted for about 15 years now. Not total black limo tint, just to the legal limit all round. It does keep it cooler on hot days and I rarely have to wear sunglasses in the car. Stratstone did the Vantage with security film before I picked it up, free of charge (negotiated in on purchase price, along with wheel colour change)

That tint level looks fine and with a security film, thats a good move.

It does drastically reduce visability tinting the windows when driving at night. I think the dark tints look good on the Range Rooney and similar 4x4's and it's almost mandatory on the Chrysler Voyager. Beware of the fashion police if you don't on one of them.

It's also acceptable on larger saloons where it is proper privacy tint, either for security, or just to keep the kids cooler/more comfy in the back, but even then, with clear front glass, it still looks quirky.

Not much chance of a rear seat passenger in the Aston though!

I am not a fan of privacy glass, but I think this looks rather special. The only accessory one needs is a violin case cool
