I read the announcement today, and wonder if there might be a mistake in the wording.
Mr. Kiesele the new president, will be reporting to the vice-president!
Perhaps I have misread something, because it does seem strange for a top man to be answerable to his deputy.
Is president a new business word? There seem to be several presidents at AML now.

Aston Martin Lagonda appointed Thomas Kiesele as president of Aston Martin Europe at "probably the most exciting time in the company’s 106-year history". Effective immediately, the new posting will see Kiesele based at Aston Martin’s regional head office in Frankfurt, Germany, from which he will be responsible for all brand and sales activities, covering 41 dealers across 19 Continental European markets. Kiesele will report to Aston Martin Europe’s vice-president and chief sales officer, Nick Lines.

Commenting on the new appointment, president and group chief executive, Dr Andy Palmer, said: “We are delighted to welcome Thomas Kiesele to the Aston Martin team at what is probably the most exciting time in the company’s 106-year history. “Thomas brings his vast experience of almost 30 years in the automotive industry which will be pivotal in helping us to deliver the Second Century plan.”
Kiesele holds a degree in Business Administration from Offenburg University of Applied Sciences in Germany and joins Aston Martin from Ferrari Financial Services, where he served as head of sales and marketing for Europe.

In my business experience, the Germans are big on titles - they all want to be the Geschäftsführer! so there may be a bit of that involved.

But if he is reporting to the VP Europe and CSO then he is logically a (Regional) Vice President of AM Europe

But job titles are often confusing and don't always accurately reflect organization charts

Nick Lines is VP and Chief Sales Officer, not just for Europe.

Is the world going mad?
Can you imagine the annual employee appraisal ?

The boss Mr. Vice President, will be reviewing the work of his subordinate Mr. President.
Presumably the subordinate should be courteous and address his superior as, "Mr Vice President".
The vice president will say to his junior (the president), "How do you consider you have performed this year, Simpkins?"

wink

Thank you Phil, you have cracked the puzzle.
This therefore is where the article goes wrong.

'Kiesele will report to Aston Martin Europe’s vice-president .....'
