I'm looking at buying a two or three year old car and I am interested in the differences between a Vantage and a DB9. I currently have a GTR so do not expect to match the performance but I am interested in day to day living. Just for reference I got rid of the GTR because it was hard as hell, cost me over £5k to get it serviced, great when you drove it balls out or on a track but compromised for the other 99% of the time when you just had to get to work. So I was wondering......

Is there much difference in performance between the V8 Vantage and the V12 DB9 (I think it unlikely I will go for a V12 Vantage)?
Are the extra seats in the DB9 worth having or is it just extra weight?
Do they differ much in servicing and running costs?
Has anyone gone for either one and then wished they had chosen the other one?
Can you really run either car as your day to day car or am I going to end up having to take the wife's car a few times every month?

Happy to have any other debate points added though....

Thanks for the feedback guys - the statement about the GTR was correct. I owned it for six months and in that time servicing and tyres cost me £7k. With fuel, and the payments for the car, it was costing me an average of £2100 a month - although I will never own anything with a better grin factor! Never thought I was a badge snob, but when I handed over the Ferrari like cheque for the service I did keep looking at the Nissan badge on the front....

I wish it was an accumulation of services - it was just one. It needed the disks replacing as, and I quote, "It looks like it has been on a track day" - I thought that was what I bought it for.....
