2006 V8V, paid for 2 years aston warranty a year ago... it's gone in for service and failed it's MOT because of a frayed seatbelt which has only come on over the last year. Also one of the wiper arms has a patch about 1.5 inch wide of powdercoat that has peeled off and erroded. Dealer said it probably wouldn't be covered as it's wear and tear? I do about 4k a year and the car in now on 17k miles not not heavily used. The dealer also said that if it was in it's first 3 years of warranty they would have both been done no questions asked. They are about £500 EACH to get done!

Any ideas on where I stand with this? Spoke to the warranty company directly and they made it clear that they are not AM and as a 3rd party company they only cover mechanical failure. I bought the warranty direct from my dealer as a puka aston warranty but turns out they farm it out..

Any idea on the best way to play this?

thanks in advance.

car smells lovely!

i've emailed for a call back from aston customer service direct and the warranty company have emailed me an appeal form which i don;t think is worth much. they aren't interested and the manager who called me back was very very rude, not what you'd expect from aston.

my main issue is the seatbelt... it is genuinely faulty and i paid for a genuine aston warranty!

Mine has frayed where it goes through the aluminium return at the top.

It seems extended warranty is actually supplied by carcareplan.co.uk.... the manager there is sticking to wear and not failure.

Thanks, some great points.

I use the car most days so would hope it not mice!

I agree that it is the parts around it not the actual belt that is at fault.

The wiper arm would be an easy one but it's the one attached to the motor not the 1 nut easy to get off one, I did have a look. I could even just touch in the area in black and it would take your eye away from it.

It really stinks... it is obviously an historic problem with many cars. The Aston service and the Aston warranty aren't cheap at all so I would have expected a better service all round.

looks like i'm getting somewhere... factory have agreed to cover the seatbelt 100%

wiper arm is on the list of exclusions though... wish it was the easy 1 nut one... but its the other one attached to the motor etc...
