I’ve been lurking around here for several months to gather information and to get a better understanding why others bought the model that they currently have or had in the past. I noticed that there were several of us who were going through the same process so I didn’t feel the need to start a new thread to get the information I was looking for. During the process I founded the forum and Grant’s book to be extremely valuable, so big thank you for helping me without knowing.

Having got a clear idea of what I wanted I went and drove few candidates. Several weeks ago I finally found what I wanted, technically a brand new showroom Vantage V12 Carbon Black Edition. It had gone through few test drives but had only about 400km in the trip when I got my hands on it. After some negotiations the car was mine and is now happily in my garage.

I have to say that very few things have ever put such a smile on my face as the V12V has. It is a wonderful car to drive, looks and sounds amazing and has a certain appeal in it. Luckily for me the winter has come late in Switzerland so I have had time to drive with my new PJ before the snow came. I know it can be driven on a snow, but I prefer my X5 in snowy conditions.

As I feel that any ‘I got a new car’ post is worthless without having any pics, here are some of mine.

Happy holidays,
Tommi and his new PJ

Great catch. They are indeed both Carbon Black. Below is a pic of both of them sitting side by side.

I have the blanket and battery conditioner ready to go. My only problem seems to be that I have no power outlet nearby. I guess I have to steal some electricity from the apartment complex smile

Congratulations with your DB9. Truly looks like Christmas came early for the three of us.

I have to say that I’m happy like a dog with two dicensoreds with my new PJ. Just wondering what I have to do to get my better half happy again…

The X5 makes my PJ look so small frown

Attached is a picture of tread plates. What comes to winter tyres I agree with you. It would be fine in Zurich for nearly every day. But I do go to the mountains nearly every weekend during the winter and there are set of days that I wish I still had the good old Discovery instead of the X5. Even with X5 I sometimes need chains as studs are not allowed. BTW, I’m originally from Finland, and one of the best things I can imagine is to drive in an ice track with RWD or 4WD car. Nothing more fun than driving in a controlled slide.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll take a look what I can build to get the power from BMW. In Switzerland we have something called ‘Wechselschilder’. It gives us the option of having one license plate for multiple cars. In my case when I drive the V12V I take the plates from my X5 and attach them to the V12V. There is a quick connect on both cars so it only takes about 30 secs and doesn’t require any tools. Why this? – Well you only have to pay taxes for one car instead of two.
