And it's only been gone a day! Now at Sarah Maynard's fitter in Sussex, I got to see the panels in the metal and my god, the quality is what you'd expect in a Zonda or Spyker!! Just a work of art as is my new gearshift surround which Sarah has made me a unique one of to match the rest of the controls.

I really can't wait, we dedcided not to do any more pictures until it was installed to give the overall effect. Not sure engine turning is going to be everyone's cup of tea but it certainly works for me, looks stunning smile

A couple of pics I have posted before to remind you:

What are you going to do with the ashtray lid?
I already have a bespoke one made by Sarah Maynard with 'Volante' inscribed on it.

I have promised the DBS ashtray lid to a chap in the states who has been very patient with me - need to post it to him! Or more accurately get the OH to do it, I am very autistic about such things.

But the DBS shift surround (much larger/chunkier than DB9/V8) and gearknob will be sold...

I suppose now the parts have been patterned, should someone want the same Sarah could make them again quite simply. But hopefully it gives people an idea of what can be done - you don't have to stick with the few options Aston give, although they are all gorgeous in themselves. That's what bespoke is, and if your car is a keeper then it's nice to make it unique rather than merely rare smile

Looks lovely quality but what about glare from the sun?
I've got a moonstone leather dash top which is a very pale beige and don't have any issues with reflection in the windscreen. It's not a polished finish, very much a brushed/matt effect so hopefully not too reflective, we did offer it up.

If it's an issue, we'll have to darken it with s matt lacquer or something. I think it'll be OK, but I'll know more next week.

As ever, the path to righteous justice for car interiors is never smooth!

Got my lower dash panel installled and thrilled with the results. High hopes that I might the rest done in time for Monaco, shame the Bank Holiday could mess it all up frown

Teaser shot of lower panel, including new shift knob, gaiter, unique gear surround and ashtray engraved with 'Volante'.

Waiting on the upper panel to have two holes cut in it and buttons fitted then BR will install it. Car is with them for a clutch and some new suspension... If I'm really lucky, there will be time to trim my steering wheel in the same green as the gaiter. Just the side panels, not the whole rim!

only thing I'm not sure of is the gearstick, personally I prefer the DBS' big chunky one.
Personal choice to be honest but I see your point. This one matches the work done and is much more ergonomic, certainly a much nicer experience for me driving! Also I'll be getting a little tan leather glove to go over the top wink

Got it all fitted at about 11pm by the good folks at Bamford Rose... couple of hours kip and then drove to Monaco, just back today; slightly richer, slightly fatter, and deeply in love with my car even though it's a work in progress!

Couple of pics I snapped last night of Sarah's interior. The workmanshp is stunning. The screws in the vent surrounds and the uniquely shaped gearshift surround are supposed to represent watch screws as a nod to my other passion. The wheel and gaiter are dark green, very thick nubuck leather, they feel fantastic and are the exact colour of the green on the Aston Martin logo. Tey add a really nice contrast to the Parliament and Moonstone really make the interior quite sporty. The engine turning is lovely, no refelctions in sunshine or in the windscreen as it's obviously a brushed finish.

The buttons either side of my starter are the AM glass ones for SPORT and ADS. One will connect to my exhaust switch, the other to my Bamford Rose adaptive damping system smile I had a photographer on the tour take better pictures, hopefully he'll mail them to me!

After seeing those pictures... they really do no justice at all frown

I will try and get some better ones that show how complete it all is and how well it all fits together!

sorry mate i have to admit am not a lover of the steering wheel and gatar...they look the wrong colour , IMHO.....i would have made them match your seats and lower dash.....apart from that though looks good...
That was my original plan, have them trimmed in Parliament green like your wheel but with perforations too!

But Sarah did this, told me it'd look good and after about 10secs of deliberation I loved it! Brought the interior to life and adds a proper sporting feel, especially when I realised its a perfect match for the little green AM logo on the wheel!

Have a look in the flesh at N Wales.

just remember while you're up here not to wear anything sheepskin like a flying jacket as a young southern softy glove wearer is fair game to the Welsh wink
Surely as long as I don't wear it inside out I should be fine..?

Going to be a long weekend of it, Silverstone, Gaydon, BR, up to Groes and then the N Wales trip.

God, I suppose I had better clean the car frown
