This is what you can read on GTSpirit

Is that true?

as the article say, villa d'este concours d'elegance is this weekend, not next weekend
I did not know there are a linguist monitoring the forum
To me next means the first one coming.

I am originally from Italy and from that area (even if sadly do not go back that often) so I know when the Concorso d’Eleganza (as correctly written in the article and not concours d'elegance) is even without reading GTSpirit

Given that somebody has already seen the real thing and even heard the engine it would be strange to see only the "shell"

English is a funny language. "Next" weekend means one week after "This" weekend.
As said I am italian ;-)
Lesson learnt, next time (or this time) I will just mention the actual days :-)))

Apologies if you thought I was trying to be a smart arse. My intention was merely to clarify the situation as I thought you may have mis-understood when it was bearing in mind the programme starts tomorrow - I don't pick people up on what I think may be accidental typos or bad grammar unless they are being rude or argumentative. My perception is that others will read 'next weekend' as the one after this weekend, but I'm sure people will be quick to inform us both either way ! :-)

Getting back to the point, I agree it's strange - I don't know if it's true but it's the rumour I heard
No worries ;-) (you were right but I cannot change the title)

Funnily enough I keep on seeing on different magazine, sites etc pictures and info regarding the new DBS, the new DB9 and the replacement of both and to me with the "camoufage" they all look the same!!

I guess I'll find out on Monday when I go to a preview at Gaydon, however like those on here who've already done one of these days, I'll then have to keep my gob shut as a result of the NDA ! :-)
Arghhh

So most of the people here is probably laughing and what is being written around on this!

It seems now that you guys are turning it again into a boring bullst topic for the select few.
Can we keep it open to the masses and discuss about the car ;-)

To me the choice of the colour for this "premiere" does not make justice to the car
Ok it is not a revolution and it is difficult to keep up with the expectations for an Aston most of all at the first sight but IMHO in other colours it might look definitively better.

The splitter with contrasting colours seems like a tuning addition to a beatiful line, but in a different colour ...

Rear lights seems similar to the One 77 and I like the rear

Curious to see the interior

Ok, in the same color with similarly revolting wheels
It is no contest. Replacement failure (too bad).
OK the DBS does indeed look better (and probably the DB9 even better in term of "purity" of the lines as it has less air intake which IMHO "break the flow")

The more I see the rear the more the line looks like a old Ferrari GT (not a good think). Again I hope it is a matter of colour

A few more picture here but still no interior

Also the article seems to reflect some skepticism.

interesting design of the side skirts, thee open rear spoiler and the newly designed rear diffuser. In the case you did not notice, the rear lights are borrowed from the One-77 and the front lights are also used on the Aston Martin Virage.

Jockman we might hope that the final production version will have some revision ;-)

However I think the initial reaction most of all for who already owns an Aston Martin might abate with time. It is very difficult not to disappoint if you follow cars like DB9, DBS, V8 Vantage or Vanquish even if you just present an "evolution" of the lines.
I would like to understand from AM what is the 75% new

Personally when I saw the DBS for the first time I really thought there where too many air intakes and aerodinamic stuff which were just negatively impacting the clean and elegant lines of the DB9

AM colour choice did not certainly help

Where are the pictures of the interior as I am curious to see if there are changes.
It seems that there is a new navigation system and that by itself is a great thing

What I would do to "improve" this car:

...

2 - Change the wheels or at least get rid of the "reverse video" black effect. Whoever has been in charge of the design of AM's wheels as of late should be sent back to refinement school for lack of taste. I refer you to the wheels on the V12 Zagato, DBS Carbon Black Edition and this new tacky wheel paint scheme for evidence.

...

7 - Show us the car in another color without the contrasting bits on the roof, mirrors, front splitter, wheels, etc and I might actually like the design. Of course, by then, everyone will say that the car isn't really "new" enough and looks like all the previous models. Hmm. So maybe I might be a good candidate for a Final Edition DBS. smile

Probably already 2 and 7 can make a huge difference and they might be available already in thne production version

Here's a brief Photoshop job I did to see what the new car would look like with a different color, clear taillights, and lighter wheels:
Good job, probably I would have even lighter wheels!!!!

The Italians also elected Berlusconi, so not too sure as to their judgemental prudence.

If Aston had mounted a couple of enormous breasts on the bonnet, perhaps it would have stood a better chance smile
Come on, every country has it is own "Berlusconi" winkbiggrin

Italians know how to do cars (even if I prefer UK cars) with plenty of top brands and designer and usually also understand about style and elegance biggrin

PS: I do not really believe the red choice has anything to do with Italians as they eventually like to see red on italians cars!!!!

Here is a picture of the interior from Carmexxline.com

Silly question what is the box over the steering wheel?

Also another video (Marchettino)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedd...

It seems (second 20) that the left rear led light does not work

The article (http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Secret-new-cars/Search-Results/Spyshots/Aston-Martins-next-DBS-2012-CAR-spy-video/) confirms that the name will change however as also said here several times

I am still curious to see, as mentioned by jonby before, what will replace the DB9
