Breakfast at the Halford Hotel, new rear brakes fitted at BR, a nice chat with Adrian and then on to Gaydon for a factory tour and a V12V and Rapide drive out. Perfect day smile

what did you think to the rapide?
If I was in the market for a four door with room in the back for my two children that don't drive it would be high on the list. The active switchable suspension is superb and the V12 sound glorious. Sport mode and firm suspension setting really transforms the car and it feels very nimble.

Not possible without a glass of vinodrink
True! Vino time when I got back home although sadly not a Montrachet.

I'm sure he's tucking in right now smile

Sounds fantastic Simon, did driving two V12s make you think of a jump..?
The V12V had sublime torque and turbine smoothness. May sound odd but I prefer the noise of the V8 when pressing on but that may be because that's all I'm used to. I'd have a V12V in a heartbeat though smile

Fancy going twos up on a new exhaust? Mine's going in next week.
I think February will be my time when it goes back to BR for a service smile

The best thing I've done recently is fit the V12V gear knob. It makes the gear changes so much nicer. Not sure why although Adrian did try and explain it to me.

I do thoroughly recommend the Halford Hotel full English breakfast though smile

I have the V12/DBS gear knob, too. I know what you mean. Somehow seems more.........balanced, positive.

Perhaps a quick scoot to the crooked chimney would be in order once the new pipes have been fitted. February may be an expensive month!
Balanced and positive - exactly the words. Adrian put it down to the top weight in the knob helping achieve the effect of almost pulling the knob into the next gear.

Let's do the Chimney when you get yours back. It would be good to see what you think and hear the beast smile

Don't drive one unless you intend to buy one!!!!! it's been said many times wink I agree on the noise, until you have a BR exhaust biggrin
I was talking about you me old cocker! I was with a driver (who was an ex-racer and his son currently races Radicals and competes in the LMP2 endurance series) who said he knows you and was with you a few weeks back when you drove the V12 Roadster. I think he said he was also at Spa when you were there. I can't remember his name (he had greyish hair) but he said to say hi smile

Nice one Simon.

The Rapide is the best looking four door car in its segment. And with prices dipping below 80k...... whistle
I agree. Of course there are the Maser/Bentley/Porsche alternatives but for the same reason we own Vantages and DB9 /S the Rapide has the Aston magic. The adaptive suspension is excellent and that with the Sport mode makes it feel very tight and focused. It doesn't corner like a Vantage but it isn't far off.

Agreed Simon. I don't think it's meant to either, though somebody needs to tell Yeti and Big T this wink

That extra 12" on the DB9 tells you it's there going round a wet corner so God only knows what the longer Rapide is saying to you !!

I need to drive one - driven the DB9, Vantage, DBS and the Virage - and just satisfy that question that keeps popping up in my head smile
I wouldn't attempt fast cornering in normal mode but when the adaptive suspension is active it is a different car smile
