My DB9 requires a service next week......my understanding is that the dealer can replace the oil with either Castrol Edge 0-40w or Mobil 1 0-40w.....the main dealer wants to charge 20.67 including VAT per litre. I have just purchased the oil from Costco for £5.75 per litre.....thats a 380% mark up !!Interestingly they want to put 12 litres into my car when it only takes 10.8 according to the handbook.....they also want to charge me £23.00 per litre for super dot 4 brake fluid which I have just purchased for £4.50 thats a 450% mark up

Am I being tight or do fello AM owners feel that I have good reason to feel I am having the p*ss taken out of me grumpy

Mike have you not spoken to Rick at Derby about cost inc trailoring it to him and back ??
Hi Dave.....I hate main dealers, they are all a bunch of crooks.......I would love to use Rick at DMS who charges £650 all in, but the same main dealer has supplied and serviced the car from new and I belive that for providence sake, when I come to sell the car that has some value and reassurance to a non knowlegable AM buyer.

The dealer started off at £1350.00 but I have got the price down to £900 all in....also they will lend me a car for the day

IF you had cared to check with the dealer you would have found out that DB9's now have a modified dipstick fitted that requires an extra litre of oil to be put in.but hey, lets have a whinge instead
well thats fine ....so explain to me why all previous services have only charged for 11 litres......perhaps they were just being kind....and it still dosn't explain the stupid mark up on lubricants

No future buyer will insist on 250 quid being knocked off for you having the brakes done at an indie. Hell, they might give you 500 more for recommending a good indie to them!

Besides, are you really likely to sell privately? Or back to the supplying dealer?

Tell your main to get to 700 quid or it's no dice smile
Its not a brake change Murph its a full service and telling a large international public company "£700 quid or it's no dice" probably wouldn't go down too well !!!! and I have never sold a car back to a main dealer....always sell privatly smile
