Sports shift question

I have a 2009 spec 4.7 roadster sports shift that has done approx 11500miles. The car has sat in the garage for approx 3 weeks and at the weekend i had the following problem.
Whilst slowing down to stop at a set of trafic lights i changed down using the paddles into 1st, as the lights changed i put my footdown but nothing happened. Car was showing 1st on dash but nothing.
Gradually it caught and off it went. It was much like the auto box on my smart 4/2 which if you slow down for a roundabout and then decide to go it get confused and the lag is very long.
I just thought that it was a bit odd, but it has done the same today as i went to turn right across a main road . Other than that it functions normally. Any ideas?
