I've had 2: a UK rev 3 n/a and a rev 3 Turbo. I'll only be selling it when I can afford a decent Elise.
What about a mk3 roadster then?Driven lots of Elise's and Exige's over the years, on the road underwhelmed, on the track underpowered.
And a late Elise will probably depreciate more every year than my mint 53 plate Mk3 Roadster cost to buy!
I reckon for everyday use, the Mk3 Roadster would be a better companion.
Being pedantic, it could always do with a little more power, but mine puts a smile on my face every day.
Back to topic
Had both mk1 and mk2 n/a, in the dark and distant past, well over 100,000 miles between them, and they never let me down.
That's why after TVR's and an XKR I have banked the cash and replaced with a Mk3 Roadster just for a laugh.
Never been happier
What an absolute joy, win win...

Well it all goes back to my 18th birthday... I had a driving experience day in a Caterham and an S1 Elise. I could not believe how the Elise felt to drive, it was an absolute joy. The steering feel, the grip, the rawness, everything, to me, was perfect. (Well compared to my Peugeot 106 it was!) Once I stepped out of that car I had to own one.Driven lots of Elise's and Exige's over the years, on the road underwhelmed, on the track underpowered.

I may drive one in a few years and it won't be such the revelation it was when I first drove it, and then the mk3 MR2 would be the sensible alternative financially. Or I can spend the money I am saving for an Elise on my turbo.
There are my 2 MR2's, both rev 3. I sold the N/A to someone from Finland.

Hey, that's a blast from the past! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_PkswoXMx0
I remember when he had that 3VZ-FE conversion done by Woodsport.
Had an appropriate reg no too. The vid starts here.
Quite a few entertaining runs back in the day before he sold it.
I am on my 9th MR2 and now have a mk1, a mk2 and a mk3. They are all excellent cars in different ways. The roadster is my every day driver as its the most economical. I bought my first mk1 MR2 in 1990 and only had a brief spell without one when I bought a Supra and then missed the MR2 so much I bought another!
only 1 Mk3 which Ive had for 6 years as a second car, have been thinking of selling for a while then decided to have some work done inc respray & wheels, just got it back & now I don't want to part with it
was thinking VX220 but having looked at a few just don't think it would be so easy to live with, guess it's a keeper for now.

I'll put up pics later but :
Mk1b White Tbar - Standard apart from wheels.
Mk1b Red Coupe - 3VZFE (My 1st swap)
Mk2 Green G Limited - Never made the road, dud engine, got lifted by the council in legalised theft case.
Mk1a Black Coupe - 3VZFE (Black Bob, loved that car)
Mk3 Black Roadster - 1MZFE (Black Bob Jnr) Sold recently and is now in the hands of someone making an RS200 rep from it.
MK2T Rev1 355 kit - 4.2 V8 (Current project) Should be pretty decent when done.
Next up i fancy doing a Lancia 037 inspired Mk1 track car. Can't whack Mr2's for cheap RWD fun.

Especially when they pay your wage :P haha. How is business, btw?
Ha, they don't these days. Business is still running but i'm between premises at the moment and everything is in storage. Hoping to get it all back working this year. I'm back insurance broking for a while at least.Purely my own stupid projects on the go now.
Do have another 2.0L Mk1 tarmac rally car to build at some point too.
