I see the new swift is out, no doubt swift sport to follow, and no doubt comments about not enough power boot too small etc.

I have a 66 plate and the Mrs 70 plate and both are brilliant little cars so I expect the new one will be much of the same.

Rumours of a new Swift sport arriving either late this year or more likely next year with circa '160 bhp', I know Suzuki are always a bit conservative with their figures, that would certainly be interesting. You and your wife are very lucky to own two already.

Still trying to find a decent Swift Sport - is it a trick of the light or do most of the white 5-doors seem to not colour match in a lot of the adverts? They can’t all have been in prangs, surely.

Circumstances may lead me down the road of a ZC32 sport this bank holiday weekend.

2017 5 door model with close to 80k on it. Not my ideal colour choice etc but its a case of beggars cant be choosers currently.

I've had a good read through this thread and plenty to think of when going to look at it. Everything I've read seems positive, so I'm pretty excited to give it a test drive on Monday.

Will report back!

I can't remember if it's been covered in this thread, but the engine management restricts the throttle until there's some warmth in the engine, so expect it to feel gutless for the first mile or so.

Hope we're both successful! beer

Does anyone know the official specs of the wheels that are on the 17 year models (ZC32) at all please?

Theres a few different offsets floating around?

Best I can see is 17x6.5 ET50 5x114.3? This right?

Cheers!

Those sound right to me, not sure how much wiggle room there is for anything else if you fancy a change.

My challenge will be to keep things standard, as this is supposed to be a cost-cutting exercise! Good luck!

Those are the correct wheel specs.

I always recommend 205/45 tyres. I’ve back to backed 195/45 and 215/45.

They also really suit Goodyear f1 assy tyres.

For the guys looking to buy don’t be put off if the gear change feels poor from cold. They are all like that and improve a lot once warm. A fluid change and maybe the linkage bushes too improve things a lot and don’t cost much.

The box only holds 1.8l so it’s worth doing quite regularly.

For the two who are hopefully buying one this weekend, here’s an abridged checklist I found for the Swift Sport. Most of it’s generic anyway but thought you might find some of it useful:

Engine cold when seeing car or has it been warmed up?

Fluid levels and changes. Check service history
Oil and filter every 9k
Brake fluid every 18k
Transmission fluid inspected every 18k?
Coolant 90k
Air filter 27k 54k 72k
Sparkplugs - 48 months/condition/type

Frothy dipstick?
Oil leaks? VVT gasket/solenoid/oil filter assembly
Cooling - radiator/pump/expansion tank/lines/ coolant level all ok?
  • Engine oil that smells of coolant
  • Sweet exhaust smell?
  • Coolant leaking externally from below the exhaust manifold
  • White smoke from the exhaust pipe (especially if you see lots of it)
  • Bubbles in the radiator or coolant overflow tank
  • Oil that is white and milky
  • Fouled spark plugs
Exhaust - soot? Corrosion? Smoke? White=gaskets/water
Blue-=piston rings/valves
Black=running rich. Check air filter

Transmission - Sloppy/tight?
Clutch slip?

Idle speed - 1500 cold 800 hot. Turn everything on see if it stalls

Body - rust? Panel gaps? Alloys kerbed?

Suspension - bouncing/ Creaking? Knocking? Figure of 8

Brakes - spongy? Condition of discs? Brake lines? Brake fluid changed at 18k 36k 54k 72k?

Interior - everything working? AC?

Test drive

Figure of 8?
Clutch slip?
Pulling to one side?
Vibration under braking?

A clutch on these is stupid money so do make sure it’s ok.

Thanks for the advice reminder - was a successful trip for me yesterday, albeit an even longer one than anticipated, thanks to the UK’s glorious rail infrastructure.

Will update in the next few days, but things like filters, oil, new (matching) tyres, wiper blades and number plates etc are already pending and soon to arrive.

Very quickly, one thing I’ve already found that I’m missing is some elevation to my clutch foot, something all other sports or ‘sporty’ cars I’ve had have been ok with.

Can anyone suggest a decent foot rest that’s not mega-money?

Walked from mine, but not over.

Wanted to negotiate price but nobody there had authority to do so today, so I’ll phone tomorrow.

Rear discs had a major lip and the pads were scoring, yet it passed MOT?

Barely any history on it and the wheels are battered to bits, but everything else was sound.

Going to low ball them tomorrow and see if they’ll drop it off and collect my car too, save me another trip.

Soon see tomorrow! Was impressed with the drive though, very light and felt enjoyable

See how it goes tomorrow.

If it’s the one I think it is (on AutoTrader?) then it’s a bit of a curious advert with limited pics, but I think with these there’s always a decent chance it’s a good car lurking underneath, I just don’t know why they’re never presented better to sell, be it private or trade.

Hopefully you can agree on a price you’re happy with smile

Aye it sure is! Looked like a crack in the bumper and poor photos but was pleasantly surprised from what I expected it to look like!

Agreed a price and I've agreed a meeting point to exchange vehicles too! Walk away with the vehicle and a good surplus of cash to do a few things to it too!

Rear discs are first port of call!

How are you getting on with yours Anh?

Looking on AUTODOC and theres a few variations with a caveat underneath some of them; "for vehicles without the sports package"
Does anyone have any info on this package and if theres any way to determine if this was a selected package?
Or similarly if anyone can give the correct dimensions of the discs before I hit the order button that would be greatly appreciated!

I’d recommend getting brakes, and most other stuff from CTC https://ctc-performance.co.uk/collections/suzuki-s...

It will be the right part unlike euros and similar who seem to have no clue about sport models.

Just to add on the rear brakes make sure you align the pad dimples correctly with the calliper piston holes. They are rewind type. Definitely grease and clean the sliders too. I prefer silicone grease but red rubber ok too.
