I'm going to look at an Integra Type-R tonight. What are the main things to look for?

It's a UK supplied car, 1999, black, AC and alarm with 79k miles. Seller is asking for £7k. It has not had its cambelt change yet.

Are there any independent Type-R specialists in Surrey?

Cheers, Alex.

Top Gear mag month before last had a page on what to look out for when buying a 'Teg. Can't remember any of it off hand though. Might be worth digging out a copy if you can.

If someone can scan it and post it here within the next 30 minutes, I will send them a case of beer!

Right, back from the test drive.

The car seems generally sound, my only two concerns are a knocking from the rear, the seller says it is an exhaust heatshield and "they all do it", and a slight whine from the transmission at parking speeds; is this because of the LSD?

I went to see another one today and...I bought it!

No whine, no knocks, just an extremely well looked-after Teg.

Can't wait to pick it up.

I love 'Tegs.

Every time I see one I start to want one.

Any chance I could blag a quick spin some time?

Oh, I don't think so, Guildford is at least 10 minutes away from me...

Sure, anytime.
