I've potentially been offered a clean S14a and thought I ought to find out a bit more about them!

As far as I know the car is unmodified and has FNissanSH, and i think will have done between 70-100k (it's a 1998 model I think). I know the driver and it won't have been thrashed.

What sort of value do these hold, and are there big bills on the horizon for a car of this age?

I'll have a good look on sxoc when I get more time but if anyone has any useful pointers they would be greatfully received!

Good reliable cars as standard, no obvious issues if its been treated & driven well. 2-2.5k is the going rate for nice ones, unless its in purple in which case it'll be hard to shift.

I thought that'd be the case for a standard one, but there are a lot of abused & modified cars out there which is why a clean example is so tempting! Didn't realise they had got so cheap now though, I bet my mate is hoping for more than that for it!

I thought purple was more disireable??? confused

Really? I would have thought it would be a bit of an acquired taste?

Anyway, the one I've been offered is metallic blue!

I have an S14a and an S14 and love them both. Forget thinking if its standard and with full nissan service history its better, as that really isnt always the case. Just spend a little time on the sxoc and it will tell you exactly what you need to look out for. Even a few little modifications make it a completely different car, have a drive and I'm sure you will love it.

Thanks everyone for the info - I don't think it's necessarily "better" for being standard and fully serviced but at least I know it hasn't got any bodged mods that could do more harm than good.

A little more info I have found out: It's closer to 100k than 70, has just had a full service, 4 new tyres, exhaust backbox and MOT and it'll be about 3.5k. I'm going to take a look at it on Monday!
